Jurassic World: Dominion director Colin Trevorrow recently teased the upcoming sci-fi/adventure blockbuster will mark the end of Rexy's story.

Trevorrow discussed the final fate of the franchise's iconic T-Rex in an interview with SFX magazine. "We all have a real love for [Rexy] as if she's a true character," he said. "So it was important for me throughout the course of these movies to take her on a journey and hopefully really make the audience want her to find peace. We want her to find a home. She feels like she has been constantly displaced, time and time again. For her to find a family and sense of belonging is what I want."

Stills from Jurassic World: Dominion recently surfaced that suggest Rexy's journey will come full circle in the new movie. In one of these photos, what appears to be the dinosaur's distinctive snout is visible in front of an upturned car which counts Laura Dern's Dr. Ellie Sattler among its occupants. If this is indeed Rexy, it seems the fan-favorite character will spend at least part of Jurassic World: Dominion terrorizing the original cast of Jurassic Park just like when audiences first encountered her in 1993.

Rexy won't have to share the screen with any of the hybrid dinosaurs from previous Jurassic World films, either. Trevorrow recently confirmed that these genetically-modified species were excluded because they didn't gel with the new movie's story. "[Hybrids] didn't fit into the reality of the environment we threw our characters in," Trevorrow explained. "It's so devoted to the real science that their number one priority would be to make the most paleontological correct dinosaurs as possible. They would not consider making hybrids there. They would look down upon it."

Rexy will face stiff competition from yet another new breed of dinosaurs, though. Jurassic World: Dominion will introduce the Giganotosaurus, a monstrous creature Trevorrow previously likened to The Dark Knight's Joker. "I wanted something that felt like the Joker... It just wants to watch the world burn," he said. A new photo from the movie depicts the Giganotosaurus hunting Sattler and fellow Jurassic Park veterans Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) and Alan Grant (Sam Neill), alongside Jurassic World leads Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard).

Whatever the outcome of Rexy's inevitable showdown with the Giganotosaurus is, Chris Pratt insists Jurassic World: Dominion will end the franchise. "It's... 30 years in the making, it's the sixth Jurassic film, it's the end of this franchise," he said, in a recent interview.

Jurassic World Dominion premieres in theaters on June 10.
