Universal Pictures dropped the second trailer for the highly-anticipated Jurassic World Dominion, offering audiences a better look at the sheer variety and size of the ancient reptiles running amok.
While a few previously teased scenes do appear in the newest trailer, the clip also provides a second look at the newly designed dinosaurs, pterasaurs and mosasaurs, as well as Owen Grady, Claire Dearing and Maisie Lockwood's continued struggle to simply survive this new ecosystem. They won't be alone in their fight against prehistoric beasts. Dr. Alan Grant, Dr. Ellie Sattler and Dr. Ian Malcolm also make an appearance in the trailer, once again evading and combatting the mess InGen and Masrani Global Corporation left behind. That very much includes Blue's offspring and all the implications that carries, as well as the terrifying giganotosaurus.
Although it has been a while since the last trailer was released, audiences have been treated to a number of shorter clips, featurettes and posters, teasing the grand scale of director Colin Trevorrow's upcoming dinosaur epic, as well as the action-packed world the iconic cast of Jurassic Park will be returning to. In one of the featurettes released, star Bryce Dallas Howard talked about working alongside the likes of Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, stating, "It is so much fun... It is everything we could have ever hoped for and more."
Jurassic World Dominion is set four years after the events of 2018's Fallen Kingdom, which saw the dinosaurs of Isla Nublar transported and subsequently unleashed on to the American continent. As implied by the film's closing sequence, Dr. Ian Malcolm's speech and the trailers for the upcoming film, it appears the dinosaurs have quickly adapted to their newfound freedom and begun to dominate the landscape.
To provide audiences with a snapshot of what that looks like for humanity, Trevorrow previously filmed and released The Battle at Big Rock. The short, available online, showcases a camp site that quickly and suddenly becomes the battleground between a nasutoceratops family and a hunting allosaurus.
But Jurassic World Dominion won't just be about survival. Trevorrow previously provided audiences with a brief summary of what they can expect in terms of the latest struggle and the newest company to attempt to control nature. "BioSyn got the contract to house the dinosaurs that have been captured around the world via various governments... They claim it's a research facility where they can study the pharmaceutical values of the animals. But there’s some other stuff going on."
Jurassic World Dominion hits theaters on June 10.
