Life finds a way for Jeff Goldblum to return to the role of Ian Malcolm in Jurassic World Dominion.

Speaking to SFX Magazine, the legacy star of 1993's Jurassic Park and 1997's The Lost World: Jurassic Park discussed how Malcolm's role in Dominion is a callback to the God-playing concerns he addressed to John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) in the original movie. "I think throughout these last couple of decades, since the incidents in Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna, that was a life-changing, death-defying experience," said Goldblum. "He's not only proudly more present and appreciative of life itself, but I think he's more passionately committed to doing what he can to help our species along."

Malcolm was last seen in an extended cameo in 2018's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, where the mathematician testified to the U.S. Senate about letting the dinosaurs perish in the Isla Nublar volcanic eruption to correct Hammond's mistake. Though he did not share screen time with stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, Goldblum teases how Malcolm and legacy characters Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and Elle Sattler (Laura Dern) will cross paths with them in Dominion. "There is some ignorance afoot with the use of the technology," said Goldblum. "Malcolm places himself somewhere near those goings-on so I might impact them. We all start collaborating before we intersect and coincide with Owen and Claire for a related reason."

Jurassic World Dominion marks a reunion between Goldblum, Neill and Dern, as the latter actors did not participate in The Lost World while Goldblum was absent from 2001's Jurassic Park III. "It was great spending more time with them than I have in the last couple of decade[s]," Goldblum said of reuniting with his Jurassic Park co-stars. "Seeing them recreate their parts, and to take the characters further right there with me, was thrilling."

In 1993's Jurassic Park, Malcolm, along with Grant and Sattler, are hired by Hammond to visit Isla Nublar to give their thoughts on the park full of genetically-engineered dinosaurs. As soon as the power shuts down, Malcolm gets injured by the T-Rex, but still manages to survive and escape the island. 1997's The Lost World saw Malcolm travel to the dinosaur breeding grounds of Isla Sorna to save his paleontologist girlfriend (Julianne Moore).

As the final movie in the franchise, Jurassic World Dominion sees the dinosaurs running wild around the world four years after the destruction of Isla Nublar in Fallen Kingdom. Now Owen Grady (Pratt), Claire Dearing (Howard) and the legacy characters of Jurassic Park must learn to deal with the new world they share with these apex predators.

Jurassic World Dominion finds its way into theaters on June 10.
