The Jurassic Park franchise has gone through some exciting changes over the decades as each sequel expanded the lore further than before. However, with Jurassic World Dominion seemingly putting a lid on further expansion for a while, it's hard to see where the franchise could go next. That said, while the future may be uncertain, there may be some hope in the past and events that were largely unmentioned.

According to YouTuber Klayton Fioriti, the four years spent between Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park were some of the series' most eventful, albeit shady. Not only were John Hammond's teams and InGen all working to continue research after the Jurassic Park incident, but they also had to contend with a deadly storm. This same storm, Hurricane Clarissa, could also be the catalyst to a prequel that could reinject the elements of horror that made the original so beloved.

Hurricane Clarissa Was a Truly Devastating Experience

First mentioned in the movie Jurassic World: Dominion by Charlotte Lockwood, Hurricane Clarissa was a monumental and dangerous storm. According to Hammond, the storm also allowed nature to take a natural course with the dinosaurs of Isla Sorna. At the time, Site B was still populated by employees and dinosaurs and was continuously studied. However, the storm led to their freedom but also enough chaos that it made Site B defunct.

Because it occurred between Jurassic Park and its sequel, a prequel exploring the leadup and events of the storm could continue a theme that started with the first movie. That theme was how corporate drama often forced the care of the dinosaurs to take the back seat, meaning that when disaster struck, the animals were the first to take advantage. With that in mind, it could be a chance to set up the truly terrifying events of Hurricane Clarissa and tell a new and harrowing tale of survival.

A Jurassic Park Prequel Could Bring Horror Back to the Franchise

As the Jurassic franchise continued, the science and ethics of the series began to take a front seat as the world grew to be about more than recreating dinosaurs. From dinosaur hybrids to human clones, the series had ventured far away from what it started as. While each entry in the Jurassic World movies did its best to maintain the horror and nostalgia of the original, it would fall short on some occasions due to the larger importance of the bigger story. As a result, a prequel set during Hurricane Clarissa could be the perfect tale to bring back the same emotions of the original.

As the video explained, the movie could focus on employees who live on the island and are made aware of the approaching storm. However, to build on that, their location in relation to the evacuation zone could be the catalyst for tension as the movie focused on these employees braving a stormy island at night. On top of that, newly released dinosaurs that are hungry and scared would stand between them as well, making survival key as the horror ramps up. The Jurassic movies have always done their best when humanity goes up against their biggest mistakes, and a prequel set during Hurricane Clarissa is a perfect event to revisit that concept. Plus, it could open a larger door to even more side stories that flesh out the lore of Jurassic Park.
