Director Steven Speilberg's Jurassic Park is returning theaters next month, to commemorate the film's 25th anniversary.

The 1993 sci-fi adventure will screen Sept. 16, 18 and 19 at more than 500 theaters across the country, accompanied by a 17-minute fan remake. It will showcase filmmakers from all over the world, helping to recreate some of the most famous scenes of the beloved classic.

Released in 1993 by Universal Pictures, Jurassic Park became of commercial and critical success, a cultural touchstone, and a high-water mark in technical achievement.

Based on the 1990 Michael Crichton novel of the same name, the film stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum as two paleontologists and a mathematician, respectively, who are brought to a revolutionary island amusement park where dinosaurs are the main attraction. Jurassic Park spawned four sequels, including this year's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which has earned more than $1 billion worldwide since its release in June.
