WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Jupiter's Legacy: Requiem #1, by Mark Millar, Tommy Lee Edwards, John Workman and John Paul Leon, on sale now.

In Jupiter's Legacy, as well as the Jupiter's Circle prequel, it seemed like Walter Sampson's Brainwave was the deadliest villain around. With Superman-like powers and telepathy, many heroes and villains alike were scared of him. He was intelligent enough as well to get Brandon to turn on Sheldon's Utopian, and he even laid the groundwork for Grace/Lady Liberty to be killed by putting her mind into a mental construct while her body was attacked.

Now in Jupiter's Legacy: Requiem #1, we discover there's someone on the loose now more lethal than Walt could ever dream to be.

This is seen at the end of the first issue in the New York subway when one of the trains goes astray. Powerhouse, a Jordanian hero working with Otto, is luckily there to catch it. He thinks his super-strength and vulnerability will bring it to a grinding halt, even if it's at 162 miles per hour.

After that, he calculates the weight per carriage but as he tells the crowd to stand back, there are three hooded guys, who seem to be triplets. One tells the leader, whose eyes are glowing green, to take away Powerhouse's abilities and shockingly, he does just that. Powerhouse doesn't know what happened and he's smashed to bits in a gory, brutal scene.

Jupiter's Legacy Requiem villains

The crowd, passengers and attending cop make it clear that the hero had no clue his powers were stolen. One of the trio jokes about the incident as if they made a bet, and as the issue ends, it leaves us wondering who they are. We have no clue what the other two can do or who their parents are. We do know Brandon has a son out there he wants to find, and that son could be one of these triplets.

Regardless of that, this is a scary notion because it means all these capes could be made human in this world. We've seen the likes of Repro, who could mimic other people's powers, and Raikou (Walt's daughter with his same telepathic powers) prove to be weapons of mass destruction, but this hooded figure stands head and shoulders above them as a threat.

The Sampson bloodline has always produced gods among men, but this new villain could seriously level the playing field. The Union which Sheldon started and Jason's leading will be next. This tyrant could be the perfect instrument against Jason, the new Utopian, and Chloe (his mom, who took over from Grace), scrubbing everyone's powers and killing them to become the nastiest villain this franchise has ever seen.
