Johnson's Twitter exchange came just hours after it was confirmed that Jungle Cruise posted a better-than-expected opening, earning a global gross of $91.8 million with $61.8 million in theatrical box office revenue and $30 million in revenue from Disney+ Premier Access.

In related news, Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson recently filed a lawsuit against Disney over the company's decision to release the Marvel Cinematic Universe film in both theaters and on Disney+. However, Johnson and his Seven Bucks Productions company refrained from joining the suit in an alleged show of solidarity with Disney.

While Jungle Cruise did well in the U.S., the film didn't fare as well internationally, bringing in only $27.6 million in total over the weekend. Of that, the film earned $4.7 million in the U.K. and added $1.7 million in France. Despite the disappointing numbers, Jungle Cruise outperformed several other movies in the international market, including A24's The Green Knight, M. Night Shymalan's Old and Tom McCarthy's Stillwater.

An adaptation of the Disneyland ride, Jungle Cruise follows Emily Blunt's Dr. Lily Houghton and her brother MacGregor (Jack Whitehall), who hire riverboat captain Frank Wolff (Johnson) to help them search for a mythical healing tree located on the Amazon River. The film is the latest in a series of ride-inspired films released by Disney, following the likes of 2003's The Haunted Mansion, 2015's Tomorrowland and the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, Jungle Cruise is now playing in theaters and available to stream through Disney+ Premier Access.
