A little more than two weeks after setting an October 2016 release date, Warner Bros. has its cast in place for Jungle Book: Origins.

EW.com reports that Andy Serkis' adaptation of Rudyard Kippling's classic tales will star Benedict Cumberbatch, Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Naomie Harris, Tom Hollander, Eddie Marsan, Peter Mullan and Serkis.

Cumberbatch, announced Tuesday as the voice of the tiger Shere Khan, is joined by Bale as the panther Bagheera, Blanchett as the python Kaa, Serkis as the bear Baloo, Hollander as Shere Khan's underling jackal Tabaqui, and Mullan, Harris and Marsan as members of the wolf pack that raises the orphaned Mowgli (played by Bad Words star Rohan Chand).

The blend of motion capture, CG animation and live action marks Serkis' directorial debut (he served as second-unit director on The Hobbit trilogy). It's also screenwriter Callie Kloves' first big-screen credit.

Origins will premiere Oct. 21, 2016, nearly a year after Disney's new take on The Jungle Book.
