Sukuna is much too powerful to be impressed by the simple forms of jujutsu sorcery that fans have witnessed in the first season of the JJK anime. His own extensive power and knowledge of sorcery make it difficult for young sorcerers like Megumi or Nobara to live up to his expectations.

This doesn't mean Ryomen Sukuna has never been impressed. In fact, the relationship between Megumi and Sukuna is memed to death because of the respect the King of Curses has for the new head of the Zenin family.

10 Sukuna Is Genuinely Impressed By The Human Experience When Reincarnated In Yuji's Body

Sukuna has an excited expression In Jujutsu Kaisen

The excitement that Sukuna expresses when he takes control of Yuji Itadori's body for the first time makes it clear that he is impressed with the human experience. He even goes so far as to compliment the way human flesh experiences life.

To even further express his admiration for the human experience, he shows off a wicked smile when he realizes how much humanity has expanded during his existence as 20 separate cursed items. Sukuna may not admire individual humans, but he does seem genuinely impressed by the way humanity has grown since he last terrorized the world as a cursed spirit.

9 Yuji Impresses Sukuna With His Indomitable Spirit

Anime Jujutsu Kaisen Yuji Eats Sukuna Finger

Sukuna may never admit it openly, but his actions have made it clear that he respects Yuji's tenacity. When the young protagonist eats the first of Sukuna's cursed fingers, the king of curses reincarnates inside Yuji's body only to be stifled by the young man's indomitable spirit.

Sukuna spends most of his time giving absolutely no care in the world to the main cast of Jujutsu Kaisen, so the moment he expresses interest in Yuji's heritage and strength it is clear that his expectations have been shattered.

8 Gojo Shows Sukuna That Jujutsu Sorcerers Are Not To Be Trifled With

Gojo & Sukuna

The first battle between Gojo and Sukuna comes in the second episode of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime. Although Sukuna enters the fight with a large handicap, he does express some interest in the strength of Satoru Gojo.

Sukuna's admiration is made clear when he mocks Satoru for not standing atop the world of Jujutsu Kaisen with his strength. The King of Curses may not admire the young man's position, but it is clear that he was at least relatively impressed by his show of strength.

7 Megumi's Ten Shadows Technique Draws Sukuna's Eye More Than Once

Megumi Fushiguro vs Ryomen Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen

Megumi is the only character that Sukuna seems to have a vested interest in other than himself. The antagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen first shows his interest in Megumi when he comes to understand the inherited Ten Shadows Technique.

The ability passed down through the Zenin line of jujutsu sorcerers allows Megumi to create shikigami using his own shadow. It is an impressive technique, but fans are still left to wonder what makes the Ten Shadow's technique so impressive in the eyes of Ryomen Sukuna.

6 Yuji's Martial Arts Impress Sukuna Just Before The Pair Enters A Binding Vow

Yuji Fighting In Jujutsu Kaisen

After Yuji gets himself killed by relying too much on Sukuna's power, the King of Curses offers to resurrect the young boy with his Reverse Cursed Energy if he agrees to a binding vow. Under Sukuna's conditions, Yuji would be resurrected without injury as long as he agrees to let Sukuna take over his body for one minute whenever he says the word enchain.

Yuji refuses until Sukuna offers to let the young man fight for it. Though Sukuna far outpaces Yuji in terms of combat experience, the young man still manages to impress the King of Curses with his hand-to-hand combat skills.

5 Megumi's Chimera Shadow Garden Forces A Grin Out Of Sukuna

Megumi Fushigiro _ JJK

Everyone was impressed when Megumi first pulled a special grade cursed spirit into his own personal domain. Even amongst professional sorcerers like Nanami and Gojo, domain expansion is a rare technique.

Still, impressing jujutsu sorcerers is much easier than impressing the King of Curses himself. This moment cements the idea that Sukuna is genuinely impressed with Megumi's control of the Ten Shadows Technique, but viewers are still left to wonder why that is.

4 Hanami, Mahito, Jogo, & Dagon Earn Sukuna's Respect With Their Desperation

Though Sukuna ends up spitting in the face of the cursed spirits that arranged for his release during the Shibuya Incident arc, he does express some admiration for their desperate attempt to team up with the King of Curses.

When Jogo tries to offer Sukuna help, the King momentarily interprets it as insolence before laughing it off and calling it desperation. For a character as proud as Sukuna, this moment shows that the King of Curses is impressed by the actions taken by the cursed spirits. Or perhaps he is simply impressed with their ability to work side by side with humans which is something he has been forced to do since being trapped in Yuji Itadori's body.

3 Sukuna Compliments Jogo's Strength After Decimating Him In A Fire Power Battle

After defeating Jogo with the power of fire, Sukuna offers up some kind words to the defeated spirit. Though Jogo stood no chance against Sukuna, the King of Curses makes sure Jogo knows that he is indeed strong.

It seems that Sukuna recognizes that even those beneath him can be powerful despite falling well short of his strength.

2 Kenjaku Manages To Entice Sukuna Before Being Properly Introduced

The corrupt jujutsu sorcerer behind the face of Psuedo-Geto has the ability to move from body to body as long as his brain stays intact. Kenjaku's nigh-immortality has allowed him to concoct a plan generations in the making. Though Sukuna never expresses his admiration for Kenjaku's plan, it is clear that he is impressed with the plotting when he offers his hand to Jogo during the Shibuyu Incident arc.

Though Sukuna could have killed every cursed spirit that thought themselves worthy of helping Sukuna before being commanded to help, he chooses to make humanity his enemy instead. Sukuna may not even know who Kenjaku is yet, but he is the only character whose plotting earned the cooperation of the King of Curses.

1 Divine General Mahoraga Earns Megumi Even More Brownie Points From Sukuna

JJK Manga Ten Shadows Technique

The third and final time Sukuna shows his interest in Megumi Fushigiro comes during the Shibuya Incident arc that only manga readers have experienced. When Fushigiro is pushed to his limits, he calls on the Divine General Mahoraga to embrace the ideals of kamikaze with his death.

Sukuna refuses to let Megumi die and steps in to defeat the Divine General. During their battle, Sukuna's laid-back attitude makes it clear that he does not feel threatened by the powerful Shikigami, but he does offer up some compliments when the General shows off his strength.
