Its popularity has exploded in the short amount of time it has been airing thanks to its action, comedy, and its cast of loveable characters. Like many of the shows that have come before it, the series' protagonist, Yuji Itadori, is gifted with immense power. But is he the most powerful?
Every lead character needs a good antagonist who can outmatch the hero in the beginning. The show has no shortage of talented and strong jujutsu sorcerers and curses. With these overpowered individuals ahead of him, Yuji is in for a tough fight.
10 Mai Doesn't Need Cursed Energy When She Has Guns
While Mai Zen'in is not the most powerful sorcerer at Jujutsu High School, she is shown to possess unparalleled marksmanship skills. On top of that, her weapon of choice is a revolver, making her a worthy adversary for anyone.
She is shown handling the gun with ease, effortlessly taking down Nobara in their first confrontation. Mai is not overpowered in the traditional sense, in that she is not overly athletic or physically strong. Rather, her exceptional ability to utilize a gun against her foes gives her a seemingly unfair advantage.
9 Megumi Lets His Dogs Off The Leash
Megumi Fushiguro's primary skill is creating spirits from his own shadows. He is seen summoning dogs, hawks, giant frogs, serpents, and other mystical creatures that can easily overtake almost any opponent. His unique ability to produce an apparently endless supply of beasts of different shapes and sizes makes him seem unstoppable at first glance.
However, when Sukuna possesses Yuji's body, he is shown defending himself with great difficulty. In the end, he is unable to take the Curse down on his own, though this could be because he was holding back since Sukuna was using Yuji's body. Given the relationship between the two of them, it would make sense that Megumi would not use his full power against his friend.
8 Toge Chooses His Words Wisely
While Toge Inumaki has not yet had his opportunity to properly demonstrate his power, his Cursed Speech ability is one that is sure to make him a force to be reckoned with. Toge's true strength comes from the way he can imbue his words with Cursed Energy, forcing others to obey his command.
This skill comes at a cost, of course. Using the ability expends a great amount of effort, which means Toge must use Cursed Speech with caution. Additionally, he needs to choose his words carefully, which results in him adopting the unique character trait of speaking only in terms of rice ball ingredients.
7 Nanami Clocks Into Overtime
In his first encounter with the Curse, Mahito, Kento Nanami is shown standing firm in both his defense and offense. His ability to create and detect weak points on his foes makes him one of the most powerful sorcerers there is.
When Mahito thinks he's worn Nanami down, the sorcerer instead just takes off his tie and reveals he's only just getting started. He then completely decimates Mahito and wins the fight. Nanami is certainly one of the most overpowered characters on the show.
6 Hanami Is Nearly Unstoppable
Hanami is a Cursed Spirit with the ability to control plants. Their durable body allows them to take an intense amount of punishment without being worn down. They can regenerate their body quickly as well by absorbing the life from plants, making them a nigh-unstoppable force.
However, despite Hanami's immense strength, Yuji and Todo were able to take them on with ease. By working together, the two sorcerers are able to outsmart and overpower Hanami. Even so, they cannot defeat the Curse on their own, ultimately requiring assistance from Gojo.
5 Todo Is Brimming With Brotherly Love
Aoi Todo possesses incredible strength that makes him an expert in hand-to-hand combat. He can take on multiple opponents with ease and use Cursed Energy to reinforce his own defense. Additionally, he can clap his hands together and instantly swap places with another person, whether they are friend or foe.
Later, he takes on Yuji in a one-on-one fight. Seeing him as his equal, he teaches Yuji new techniques as they fight and effortlessly holds his own against the powerful sorcerer. With his unmatched skill, Todo can afford to be taken down a notch.
4 Mahito Touches The Very Soul Of Humans
Mohito is the first real big, bad Cursed Spirit that Yuji encounters. This spirit can manipulate the soul itself to change the shape of nearly any living creature just by touching it. He keeps a stockpile of shrunken humans that he can pull out and quickly make them grow. He can even control their will, forcing them to fight his enemies.
His Domain Expansion ability allows him to create an environment that is locked out from the outside world, where he can transfigure the souls of anyone trapped inside. He nearly defeats Nanami with this technique but is interrupted by Yuji breaking through the seal.
3 Gojo Is Faster Than The Eye Can See
Satoru Gojo is often regarded as one of the most powerful jujutsu sorcerers alive, and he demonstrates why in every fight scene he is in. He takes on Sukuna easily and makes quick work of the Cursed Spirit, Jogo. Gojo possesses vast amounts of Cursed Energy, which he can use to manipulate space itself in a variety of ways.
On top of his jujutsu skills, he also wields immense strength, allowing him to fight for extended periods of time without breaking a sweat. He is extremely fast and agile, moving quicker than most can even see. Gojo can also adapt to nearly any situation and determine the best ways to take down his foes.
2 Sukuna Is Not To Be Underestimated
The Curse inhabiting Yuji's body, Ryomen Sukuna, demonstrates just how overpowered he is when he and Yuji fight within his own mind shortly after Yuji dies. Sukuna effortlessly dodges and blocks every one of Yuji's attacks, and easily gains the upper hand, forcing the young sorcerer to agree to his demands in exchange for getting his body back. Yuji doesn't stand a chance during this initial battle, and the outcome is not revealed until later in the series.
1 The Protagonist Wields The Most Power
Yes, the protagonist, Yuji Itadori, himself is the most overpowered character in the series so far. Despite losing to Sukuna during their first confrontation, Yuji proves himself a skilled fighter very quickly. Even before consuming Sukuna's fingers and being cursed, Yuji is shown to be incredibly athletic and agile.
Without any special powers, he is able to hold his own against a cursed monster that attacks his friends in the first episode. Then, Yuji consumes a cursed object with virtually no consequences that the viewers have seen yet, which serves to only make him stronger. Thankfully, he is not all-powerful, as shown by his early death (even though he comes back to life), his inability to hold his own against Mahito, and learning new techniques from Todo.
