Jujutsu Kaisen is an anime series that delves into the world of cursed spirits and the brave sorcerers who fight them. One of these sorcerers is Megumi Fushiguro, a first-year student at Jujutsu High. Though Megumi is a Grade 2 sorcerer, he has the potential to become as strong as his sensei, Satoru Gojo, who's probably the strongest sorcerer alive.

Not only does Megumi possess incredible physical prowess, but he also has an immense amount of cursed energy. Megumi manipulates his cursed energy with his Ten Shadows Technique to create various shikigami. All of Megumi's shikigami are strong individually, but they can also morph and combine to create far more powerful entities.

Updated on December 4, 2023, by Ajay Aravind: Gege Akutami's Jujutsu Kaisen has taken the anime world by storm, in part due to its diverse cast. Among them is Megumi Fushiguro, a side character with protagonist energy. Since he constantly relies on his Ten Shadows Technique, Megumi is yet to reveal two shikigami: Round Deer and Piercing Ox. That said, we've updated this list with some more information about all of Megumi's shikigami seen in the JJK anime.

7 Rabbit Escape Is Extremely Effective In Providing Camouflage Or Distraction

Abilities:

  • Creating confusion and havoc
  • Swarming the opponent
  • Near-limitless generation

Megumi can summon dozens of rabbits by making a rabbit shadow puppet. As seen in the battle with Jiro Awasaka, the rabbits swarm the enemy, temporarily overwhelming him and cutting off his field of view. Rabbit Escape isn't meant to be a combat-oriented shikigami, but rather a distraction so the heroes can either escape or find the right moment to strike.

The rabbits themselves aren't very strong and can, therefore, be defeated without much effort. Megumi also exploits Rabbit Escape while dueling with Toji Fushiguro, but it doesn't really have much of an effect against such an overpowered opponent. In fact, Toji uses a rather simple yet potent technique to dispatch all the rabbits that Megumi produces.

6 Toad Works Almost Exactly Like Its Natural Counterpart, Except Much Stronger

Megumi Fushiguro's Toad Shikigami is a support creature

Abilities:

  • Prehensile tongue
  • Ensnaring enemies
  • The Well's Unknown Abyss

The Toad shikigami is summoned through Megumi's hand shadow puppetry. Although the summoner himself admits that Toad is relatively fragile, there's no doubt that it can be used in a supporting role — or together with the other shikigami available to Megumi. Toad can capture and pin down opponents by using its prehensile tongue, much like a real toad catches its prey.

Further, Megumi regularly employs Toad to protect himself and his friends, especially when they need to avoid imminent attacks. Toad is also suited to search and rescue missions in conjunction with Divine Dogs. Enemies regularly underestimate this seemingly harmless shikigami and end up suffering the consequences. For instance, Megumi utilizes Toad against overpowered individuals like Awasaka and Toji, although the techniques were completely different for each opponent.

5 Max Elephant Requires Considerable Amounts Of Energy To Manifest

Megumi brings out the Max Elephant Shikigami

Abilities:

  • Generating torrents of water
  • Exceptional strength and durability
  • High-pressure attacks

Sorcerers are humanity's best defense against supernatural curses, and this kind of combat is personal for characters like Maki and Kento Nanami.

Max Elephant requires quite a bit of cursed energy to manifest, which is why Megumi only brings this shikigami out when absolutely necessary. Further, the physical "body" of Max Elephant doesn't appear instantly, leaving Megumi at risk of taking enemy damage. Max Elephant takes the form of a pink elephant with markings all over its body.

While fans initially assumed that this shikigami would rely solely on brute force attacks, Max Elephant also spews a potent blast of water through its trunk, washing away any enemies in the vicinity. That said, Max Elephant's gargantuan size comes in handy when Megumi battles Awasaka, who's temporarily taken aback when the shikigami suddenly materializes above him. Manga readers will be happy to know that Max Elephant is going to make a comeback later in the story.

4 Nue Takes The Appearance Of An Enormous Bird With A Humanoid Face

Megumi summoning Nue in Jujutsu Kaisen

Abilities:

  • Remarkable load bearing
  • Electro-shock wings
  • The Well's Unknown Abyss

Nue takes the appearance of an enormous bird with an extremely eerie mask and a set of humanoid teeth. This shikigami is one of the fastest entities in JJK, not to mention its remarkable load-bearing capabilities. Megumi depends on Nue for multiple reasons — it can carry him and his friends to safety, attack opponents on Megumi's behalf, or even provide a feathery barrier against incoming attacks.

If that's not impressive enough, Megumi can fuse Nue and Toad, a technique known as The Well's Unknown Abyss. This allows the toads to fly, although it makes them considerably weaker than the actual Toad shikigami. Nue has nearly died on several occasions, but its continued survival is a testament to this shikigami's durability. It's clear that Megumi prefers Nue to his other shikigami, as he calls the bird more often, especially during stressful situations.

3 Great Serpent Could Deactivate Curses Almost Instantly

Megumi Fushiguro's Great Serpent with its mouth open

Abilities:

  • Curse neutralization
  • Speed and flexibility

Arguably the largest shikigami at Megumi's disposal, Great Serpent was unfortunately decimated by Sukuna. This shikigami might never appear in the story again, but its accomplishments were nevertheless noteworthy. One of the best features of Great Serpent was its rapid summoning time — there was almost no delay between Megumi's hand motions and the shikigami's materialization.

As useful as this was, Great Serpent's greatest asset had to be its curse destruction skills. While the other shikigami are also technically capable of deactivating curses, Great Serpent's speed and power made it a deadly addition to Megumi's arsenal. It's likely that there were other techniques in its arsenal that didn't get their time to shine on the battlefield. Perhaps it will return as a fusion one day.

2 Divine Dogs Were Summoned Together Until The White One's Destruction

Abilities:

  • Defeating weaker opponents
  • Tracking curses through scent
  • Divine Dog: Totality

To the delight of Yu Yu Hakusho fans, Jujutsu Kaisen sneaks in a reference to a beloved scene from Yoshihiro Togashi's shonen classic.

Introduced in the first chapter and episode of Jujutsu Kaisen, Divine Dogs are two identical wolves — one black, the other white. This shikigami pair work like ordinary tracking hounds, which is why they can easily locate targets through scent alone. These two shikigami were always summoned together, at least until the white version was slaughtered by a special grade cursed spirit.

However, fans were delighted to discover that the white dog wasn't exactly dead, and that it could be summoned as a fusion with its twin. Known as Divine Dog: Totality, this technique manifests a highly dangerous black-and-white wolf strong enough to damage opponents as strong as Hanami. This is particularly impressive because each individual wolf would have been instantly destroyed by Hanami.

1 Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga Nearly Bests Sukuna In Battle

Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga unleashed in Jujutsu Kaisen

Abilities:

  • The Sword of Extermination
  • Universal phenomena adaptation
  • Immeasurable strength

Megumi's strongest shikigami, Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga takes its name from a class of divine entities in Japanese Buddhism. Mahoraga is the most versatile shikigami in the Ten Shadows Technique, as it can effortlessly adapt its behavior based on the environment. In other words, attacking the Mahoraga using a specific method ensures that it will never work again.

This shikigami comes bearing a blade known as the Sword of Extermination, a construct designed to exorcise and/or destroy curses and cursed spirits. In addition, Mahoraga's physical strength is off the charts, explaining why nobody has yet proved worthy of controlling this shikigami. In the anime's second season, fans got to see Mahoraga battle Sukuna, one of the most explosive fights in Jujutsu Kaisen. The shikigami actually manages to keep the King of Curses on his toes, at least until Sukuna activates his Malevolent Shrine.
