The voice actors who brought Jujutsu Kaisen 0 to life have continued to speak out about their unfair compensation. Both Chris Tergliafera (voice of Kiyotaka Ichiji) and Anairis Quiñones (voice of Rika Orimoto) took to Twitter to state that they were only paid $150 for their contributions to the film. Earlier this year, Tara Jayne Sands, who played Momo Nishimiya and Utahime Iori in Jujutsu Kaisen 0, revealed a similarly low pay rate. The actor went on to explain that she had unsuccessfully attempted to negotiate a higher wage and that she believes real change will need to come from the anime production companies.RELATED: Jujutsu Kaisen: The Deadly Potential of Inumaki's Cursed Speech

What Is Jujutsu Kaisen 0?

Jujutsu Kaisen 0, a prequel series to the popular shōnen anime Jujutsu Kaisen, debuted in Japanese theaters in December 2021 and in North America in March 2022. The movie earned over $34 million at the United States box office alone and grossed roughly $196 million worldwide, making it one of the most profitable anime films of all time alongside Demon Slayer the Movie: Mugen Train, One Piece Film: Red and Studio Ghibli classics like Spirited Away, Ponyo and Howl's Moving Castle.

Produced by studio MAPPA (Attack on Titan: The Final Season), directed by Sung Hoo Park (The God of High School) and written by Hiroshi Seko (Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt), Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is set one year before the events of the mainline storyline. The narrative focuses on the complicated dynamic between childhood friends Yuta Okkotsu and Rika Orimoto. While Yuta promised to marry her one day, Rika unfortunately passes away at a young age. Her bitterness and rage transform her into a Cursed Spirit and she attaches herself to Yuta. Much of the plot sees Yuta trying to gain control of the spirit and use her deadly powers for good.
