Being one of the three main characters in one of the biggest movie franchises in the world puts a lot of pressure on Hermione Granger. She has a reputation for being the smartest and brightest witch of her generation, but her intelligence doesn't stop at memorizing spells and formulating potions. It extends to her tactical skills in battle.

Harry Potter and Jujutsu Kaisen don't exactly fall under the same umbrella, but the cursed techniques and spells are inherently similar. For example, it took more than "Avada Kedavra" to take out Voldemort. Similarly, it takes more than the ability to use a cursed technique to eliminate Curses. To go from "using cursed techniques" to Jujutsu Sorcerer requires intelligence and a strategic mind.

7 Maki Zenin Is The Hermione Granger Of Jujutsu Kaisen

Maki Zenin is the anime version of Hermione

Out of all the characters on this list, Maki Zenin bears the most resemblance to everyone's favorite Hogwarts witch, Hermione Granger. Growing up in the muggle world, Hermione had to prove herself worthy of being a witch. Likewise, being born into an acclaimed sorcerer family without cursed energy, Maki had to prove she was worthy of being a sorcerer.

Maki's intelligence supersedes academics. Not only does she give her all when it comes to memorizing combat techniques, but she hones her skills to make up for her lack of cursed energy. She single-handedly transformed her narrative of being the Zenin family's black sheep into the powerful Jujutsu Sorcerer she is today. Much like Hermione, she dedicates her life to being the best sorcerer she can be. One of the few things Maki has over Hermione is her mastery of numerous weapons, whereas the latter solely depends on her wand in battle.

6 Kokichi Muta's Intelligence Is Wildly Underrated

Kokichi Muta

Kokichi Muta, otherwise known as Mechamaru, is one of the most underrated geniuses on Jujutsu Kaisen. As a result of his Heavenly Restriction, Kokichi was born with a frail body unfit for the real world.

Instead of giving up, he takes full advantage of his ability to control objects from a distance and manifests his presence into the Ultimate Mechamaru. Of course, talent alone isn't enough to become a Jujutsu Sorcerer, and Kokichi Muta is aware of the incredible power he possesses. Creating a tremendously powerful puppet and controlling it from afar requires more than genius sorcery, and Hermione is yet to showcase any form of magic to such a powerful extent. Kokichi goes above and beyond his potential as a sorcerer by finding a way around his paralyzing state.

5 Megumi Fushiguro Is Silent But Deadly

Having such an intense and angst-ridden aura prevents people from seeing Megumi Fushiguro for the incredible sorcerer he is. Megumi has yet to fulfill his full potential in the anime, and as a result, he's often overlooked when he's arguably the smartest out of the first-year trio.

Megumi is calculating and strategic. He never does anything without meticulously planning every move first. Despite this, he's still entirely capable of adapting to his surroundings. In "Death Painting Arc," Megumi confesses he's repressed the full extent of his powers the entire time. Traditionally, his intelligence may be on par with Hermione's, but his ability to suppress his powers for so long is evidence of his superior tactical mind. He restrains himself while waiting for the perfect time to strike, and he uses every last card before revealing the ace up his sleeve.

4 Kento Nanami Is A Math Genius

Kento Nanami is a master of Curses in Jujutsu Kaisen.

To Kento Nanami, being a Jujutsu Sorcerer is no different from having a 9-5 job. He's strictly punctual when it comes to working and leaves at exactly 6pm, and he never exerts more energy than necessary to beat an opponent. However, this also implies he analyzes the big picture steps ahead of the enemy. He manages his time to a tee by ensuring he gets the job done before the day ends.

In addition to his impeccable time management, his Ratio Technique is heavily math-based. Nanami's unique Cursed Technique allows him to divide Curses into ten parts, finding a weak spot in a 7:3 ratio. This may be a special ability that comes naturally to him, but it still takes great intelligence to carry out complex mathematical equations and not die at the same time. However, the lack of arithmetic calculations in Hermione's magic isn't the reason Nanami's intelligence exceeds the young witch's. It's his wise outlook and perceptive mind that tips the scales in his favor.

3 Yoshinobu Gakuganji Runs The School For A Reason

Yoshinobu Gakuganji

Principal Yoshinobu Gakuganji may not be the most likable character on Jujutsu Kaisen, but he's certainly one of the most astute. Unfortunately, the despised principal uses his intelligence for all the wrong reasons.

Yoshinobu may look like a frail old man on the outside, but he's a cunning and devious sorcerer on the inside. Satoru Gojo, the anti-hero who stands up for his students, hates Yoshinobu for a reason. The latter often manipulates others into doing his dirty work, all while hiding his true intentions and deceiving everyone around him. Manipulating others isn't easy work. It requires a high level of hypervigilance to observe others with such a keen eye. If developed, Hermione's keen mind may be able to surpass that of Gakuganji's. However, it's simply not the case as it stands, leaving Potterheads everywhere to wonder what Hermione is truly capable of if given the opportunity to grow.

2 Satoru Gojo Is Beauty, Brains, and Brawns

Satoru Gojo with his mask pulled down from Jujustu Kaisen.

Satoru Gojo is everyone's favorite character for a reason. Contrary to popular belief, his blinding beauty and other-worldly powers aren't the only reasons for his popularity. As the show progresses, Gojo continually proves he's one of the most powerful sorcerers alive. He's completely mastered his Limitless Technique, and to have mastery over one's Cursed Techniques takes a lot of intellect and control.

With his powers, Gojo has absolute control over space and is able to distort it to his will. With infinite powers in the palm of his hands, Gojo can paralyze his enemies inside his domain expansion. He's strategic in everything he does and can anticipate any attack from miles away. Hermione is a bright witch, but her intelligence is virtually nothing compared to the untouchable Satoru Gojo.

1 Ryomen Sukuna Could Have Contended Gojo For Most Powerful Sorcerer

Ryomen Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen grinning

Earning the title for the most dangerous villain of a show like Jujutsu Kaisen doesn't come easily. Ryomen Sukuna may be the King of Curses now, but thousands of years prior to this notorious label, he was a Jujutsu Sorcerer himself. The heavily feared Cursed Spirit wasn't just any other sorcerer but the most powerful one of his time.

To be commended for such high-ranking titles takes more than strength and power. Sukuna's cunning intelligence isn't something to be ignored. Within minutes of meeting Megumi, he realizes the full extent of the latter's potential, which is something no one else on the show has addressed thus far. Sukuna analyzes his surroundings and observes his opponents meticulously. He knows how to evoke the reactions he desires out of people, such as when he forced Yuji's hand into agreeing to their deal. Hermione has yet to exhibit such a deep understanding of anyone. She has incredible talent in the art of deduction and quickly understood Harry was the last Horcrux, but Sukuna's conniving mind surpasses Hermione's by a long shot.
