Jujutsu Kaisen has already demonstrated a mastery of traditional anime tropes since its debut in late 2019. Since then, it has continued to set a new standard for modern Shonen anime series.

Jujutsu Kaisen especially succeeds when it comes to choreographing epic anime fight scenes. Anime fans already know that a Shonen anime can only make it so far without engaging battles. My Hero Academia has bloomed in popularity thanks to the way it prioritizes super-heroic battles throughout its plot. Jujutsu Kaisen isn't able to tap into the super hero genre as much as MHA, but it has managed to fill its plot with epic battles that compete with the very best action scenes from MHA

8 Nanami Proves Just How Far A Jujutsu Sorcerer Will Go To Ensure Their Victory Over Mahito

Jujutsu Kaisen's Kento Nanami using his Vow Overtime.

The battle between Nanami and the cursed spirit Mahito really pushed the boundary for what a battle between sorcerer and spirit can look like in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. The fight between Gojo and Jogo already broadened the power scale, but when Mahito and Nanami face each other the creative limits of this series are shattered.

Mahito's cursed technique allows him to turn human bodies into moldable clay while Nanami takes advantage of mathematics to create weaknesses on his enemy's body. After watching these two foes clash, it became very clear that Jujutsu Kaisen has no limits when it comes to creatively enhancing battle sequences with cursed techniques.

7 Yuji Itadori Demonstrates Just How Powerful He Is By Taking On The Entire Kyoto Jutsu Team During The Team Battle

Sister School Exchange Jujutsu Kaisen Miwa worried

Yuji levels up quite a bit throughout the first few arcs of Jujutsu Kaisen. By the time fans are watching him during the Kyoto Goodwill Event Arc, Yuji is a powerful martial artist and Jujutsu Sorcerer.

In order to keep Aoi Todo distracted while the rest of team Tokyo track the cursed spirits littered throughout the group battle's stage, Yuji steps up to face Todo in a battle of strength. During this battle, the rest of team Kyoto surround Yuji and put the novice sorcerer to the test by attacking him as a team. Fortunately, Yuji steps up to the plate and pushes back against the entire Kyoto team. Yuji eventually gets pulled out of harms way by Todo, but for a moment Yuji put up a good fight even when far outnumbered.

6 Ryomen Sekuna Hypes Up Megumi Fushiguro To Prove Just How Overpowered He Is

Megumi vs Sekuna

Before Yuji meets an untimely death in the fourth episode of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime, he is forced to battle a special grade curse with Megumi and Nobara. Though the three of them are more than capable of handling a fledgling special grade in the most recent episodes, when the series was just getting started they were regularly outmatched by the cursed spirits around them.

In order to overcome the finger bearing special grade, Yuji gives Sukuna control of his body. Sukuna makes quick work of the special grade, then confronts Megumi before ripping Yuji's heart out of his own chest. The battle between Sukuna and Megumi is the first chance viewers get to see Fushigiro really push his cursed techniques to their limit. Sukuna also uses his chance in the limelight to educate viewers on the details that surround Megumi's technique.

5 Maki Zenin Battles Against A Culture Of Ableism In The Jutsu World By Overcoming Every Enemy That Crosses Her Path

Jujutsu Kaisen Maki Zenin with sword

It is too difficult to pick just one of Maki Zenin's battles from the first season of Jujutsu Kaisen. Much like Yuji, Maki is an outlier in the world of Jujutsu Sorcery. Being unable to see or manipulate cursed energy, Maki is forced to rely on hand to hand and/or weapons combat like Yuji does.

If fans are entertained by Yuji's aggressively simple approach to combat in a world comprised of an infinite number of cursed techniques, they will surely enjoy Maki's time in the ring as well. The Kyoto Sister School Exchange Event has given viewers the chance to see Maki match up against Kasumi, Mai, and even a special grade cursed spirit named Hanami. Every single one of these fights has been captivating, as fans have seen Maki prove that supernatural strength and combat training can push a character to great lengths in the world of JJK.

4 Megumi Fushigiro, Yuji Itadori, & Nobara Kugisaki Show Off Their Teamwork By Taking On Two Mystery Special Grade Cursed Spirits

The main cast of characters in Jujutsu Kaisen

Though they've yet to actually participate in this fight on screen, every time Fushigiro, Itadori, and Nobara are given the chance to fight together it is a genuine treat. Up to this point in the series though, the three main characters have spent so much time training that they have rarely gotten the chance to show off their skills together in battle.

If viewers account for the progress that all three of these characters have made in the first 22 episodes of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime then even if both cursed spirits that they find themselves faced with are classified as special grade, Fushigiro, Itadori, and Nobara will still put up on an epic display of power that fans should be thrilled for.

3 Gojo & Sukuna Break The Power Scale In The Second Episode With Just 10 Seconds Of Fight Choreography

Gojo & Sukuna

Gojo Sotaru is new to the world of anime, but he has already garnished a massive fan base. When the white haired sensei first debuted onscreen, he introduced himself as the strongest Jujutsu Sorcerer. After this confident declaration, Gojo Sotaru proves that he is indeed untouchable by sparring with Sukuna for ten seconds.

Though that may not seem like much time with which to demonstrate one's abilities, Sukuna is by far the most powerful villain introduced in Jujutsu Kaisen so far. The way Gojo dances around the king of curses is incredible. As the first season continues into 2021, fans have gotten the chance to see Gojo really show off his power, but nothing is quite like the first time.

2 Yuji & Nanami Team Up To Take Down Mahito, An Unregistered Special Grade Cursed Spirit

Itadori Yuji wielding cursed energy Jujutsu Kaisen

After Nanami pulls a Rock Lee and drops the cursed energy restriction holding back his true strength, he is able to use his cursed technique to escape from Mahito long enough to get backup from Yuji. This arc makes it very clear that Yuji still has plenty of room to grow as a Jutsu Sorcerer, but the way he holds his own with a professional sorcerer and a special grade cursed spirit is incredible.

Despite Yuji and Nanami's valiant efforts against Mahito, it is Sukuna that truly overcame the unregistered special grade curse. It seems that Yuji can utilize Sukuna as a buff to his own skills even without intending to.

1 Satoru Gojo Demonstrates Just How Powerful He Is By Turning His Battle With Jogo Into A Training Session For Yuji

Gojo Vs Jogo _ Jujutsu Kaisen

When Sukuna destroyed a special grade cursed spirit with his domain expansion technique, viewers were teased with the limits of Jujutsu Sorcery. Fans can't get enough of Sukuna, but it wasn't until another cursed spirit attacked Satoru Gojo that domain expansion was truly explained onscreen.

Jogo takes a beating before attempting to trap Satoru Gojo and Yuji Itadori in his Doman: Coffin of the Iron Mountain. If it weren't for Gojo's even more powerful Domain: Infinite Void, the two sorcerers would surely have been incinerated, ending the plot of JJK.
