New art of the antagonist Suguru Geto has been released, depicting how the arrogant curse user will appear in the upcoming Jujutsu Kaisen 0 prequel movie.

As reported by Crunchyroll, the new art of Geto was revealed alongside a set of new images of the cast which will adorn the movie's pre-order tickets in Japan. The new movie takes place before the events depicted in the main Jujutsu Kaisen anime and manga series, as shown by the absence of the stitched scars that are now seen running along Geto's forehead. While the events of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 take place before series protagonist Yuji Itadori becomes a curse user, other popular characters from the main series, such as Geto's former partner Satoru Gojo and Maki Zenin, do play a major role in the prequel's story.

The anime series' director, Sunghoo Park, will also return to direct the film. Park previously worked on Yuri on Ice and The God of High School.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 tells the story of Yuta Okkutsu, a young man who is literally haunted by the memory of his childhood friend, Rikka Orimoto, whom he once promised to marry when they grew up. Unfortunately for Yuta, Rikka passed away at a young age and now haunts him as a Curse, a malevolent spirit that attacks anyone who gets too close to him. Falling into despair over his situation, Yuta enters a self-imposed exile to protect others from Rikka's Curse, until he meets a man named Satoru Gojo. The jujutsu sorcerer brings Yuta to Jujutsu High and begins teaching him to use Rikka's powers to protect others.

The new movie is based on a manga that was published by series creator Gege Akutami in 2017, which was originally entitled Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School. The miniseries introduced many of the characters, concepts, and the world that would later be expanded upon in Akutami's Jujutsu Kaisen manga, which published its first chapter about a year after Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School was completed. The manga was retroactively renamed Jujutsu Kaisen 0 to reflect its place in the popular shonen manga's timeline.
