"Jughead" Welcomes New Creative Team, Sabrina the Teenage Witch

Archie Comics has announced Ryan North and Derek Charm as the new creative team on "Jughead" as of September's Issue #9. Writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Erica Henderson will depart the series following the release of "Jughead" #8.

Along with a new writer and artist, "Jughead" will also receive a new member of its supporting cast as Sabrina, the Teenage Witch makes her debut in the fresh take on Riverdale's iconic characters.

In an interview with The Daily Dot, North promises he and Charm won't be bringing any sweeping changes to the vision established by Zdarsky and Henderson. That said, growth is inevitable for the characters, and the introduction of Sabrina to the mix can only lead to new types of adventures for the title character and his friends.

"Sabrina's interesting because she's literally magic," North says. "She is an actual witch in a world where witchcraft isn't known to be a real thing, and she's got this edge to her that you don't often see in Riverdale. I think Jughead's just the kind of person who I think would be a lot of fun to see interact with that."

"Jughead" #9, written by Ryan North with art by Derek Charm, arrives September 7.
