Judge Dredd, Thor, Gravel: Aug 19th Comic Reel

Finally confirming what has been known for weeks, Heat Vision reports Karl Urban has closed his deal to star in the film. "The comic is set in a future where police act as judge, jury and executioner. Urban will play Joe Dredd, the creme de la creme of the elite police corps," they write. So how many more "I am the Law!" jokes will I need? Also, this marks my first mention of the revilled Stallone version, just for future comparing and contrasting.

Since I started adding "Doctor Who" to the Reel, I thought I might add the occasional "Torchwood" news, despite my ambivalent feelings toward it. Spoiler TV has descriptions of the key cast members. In addition to revealing Gwen's new life in South Wales, the document also gives some details to the plot and new character C.I.A. Agent Rex Matheson. "He's 28, the golden boy. Has been, all his life. Harvard education, fast-tracker in the C.I.A., destined for success. Though he's never taken it easy - Rex hustles, seduces and campaigns to get where he is today. He can talk his way into anything, then charm his way out, fast. He's made a lot of enemies, but his friends and lovers would defend him to death," reveals the document. Matheson will have to find both Gwen and Captan Jack Harkness. At some point, a new Torchwood team will assemble.

The official AMC blog has some new photos from the production. Here's my favorite of the lot:

So after a pretty good omelet, I'm set for my next assignment in somewhere other than Los Angeles. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take cit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya bracing for the future threat of sandstorms ... and maybe sandworms.
