Almost eight years since Karl Urban starred in 2012's Dredd, The Boys actor remains willing to reprise his role as the titular Judge for the upcoming TV series, Judge Dredd: Mega City One.

In an interview with ScreenGeek about Season 2 of The Boys, Urban was asked whether anyone involved with Mega City One's production had asked him to return. The actor responded, "It's very, very early to get into any specifics on that, but I've gone on the record before saying that I would love to come back and be a part of that world and tell more Dredd stories."

Though it's unclear whether Urban will re-don the Judge helmet, he remains excited for the show's premiere. "There is just a plethora of great, great stories within the Judge Dredd universe. I think that Jason [Kingsley] and his team – I think that the legacy of Judge Dredd is in great hands," he further explained, "And if I get the opportunity to work with those guys, you can bet your bottom dollar I will be there – because I think that it would be just a real rich and rewarding experience for, not only for us to collaborate, but for the fans."

Despite under-performing at the box office when it released, Dredd received positive reviews -- with critics praising Urban's performance in the titular role -- and has since gained a cult following. The film is overwhelmingly regarded as a superior adaptation of the 2000 AD character in comparison to 1995's Sylvester Stallone-led Judge Dredd.

Taking place in the dystopian East Coast metropolis Mega-City One, Dredd follows the titular Judge (Urban) who, alongside psychic recruit Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby) attempts to disrupt the business of drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey), who resides in a massive 200-floor housing block. When the two are locked in by Ma-Ma, they must make their way up the complex to reach her and deliver a sentence.
