Actor Jude Law shared his thoughts on Johnny Depp's recent firing from the third Fantastic Beasts movie and what it means for the franchise's future.

"And you have to go along with those because we're just a member of the team," he added. Law, who plays a young Albus Dumbledore during his days as a Hogwarts teacher in the franchise, further described the upcoming Fantastic Beasts film as having "many, many layers to it.

"It's probably one of the biggest productions I've ever worked on," he said. "And in a situation like this, you defer to the studio. That's all you can do. Because you have to turn up and play your part. It was unusual for me because, in fact, on this particular role, Johnny had actually only done a day's filming."

Depp briefly debuted as Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and played a larger role in its sequel The Crimes of Grindelwald. He announced that he left the franchise at the studio's behest via Instagram, shortly after the actor lost his libel case against the British tabloid newspaper The Sun for calling him a "wife-beater." A second libel trial over an article Heard wrote in The Washington Post is set to begin early this year.

Warner Bros. is currently looking into Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen as a replacement casting for Depp. Some fans hoped to have Colin Farrell, who played Grindelwald's cover identity of Percival Graves in the first movie, reprising his role.
