Last week, Joss Whedon rolled out "Save the Day," a campaign enlisting some serious Hollywood heavy hitters -- "just a shit-ton of famous people," as Julianne Moore said -- to urge U.S. voters to cast their ballots on election day. For those still on the fence, or not impressed with either major presidential nominee, the writer and director of "The Avengers" offered a write-in candidate from the Marvel Cinematic Universe during a Q&A on Facebook.

"I think I'm probably gonna have to go with Hawkeye," Whedon said after some pondering. "A man who is grounded. He not only has family values, he actually has a family."

Compared to other members of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Whedon argued that Clint Barton presents us with a man of the people. However, the same can't be said for many of his compatriots. "Every other Avenger, let's face it, they're a little out there," Whedon said. "They're a little bit disconnected from the real world."

But what about any Marvel heroes who shouldn't be seated in the Oval Office?

"Definitely don't want Tony Stark to be President," Whedon said, also mentioning that Bruce Banner, while a genius, has a temper that might get in the way.

The entire Q&A is pretty interesting, and is worth checking out if you have 20 or so minutes to spare. Unfortunately, however, Whedon doesn't get into who he'd think would make a decent running mate for Hawkeye. Barton/Vision 2020, anyone?
