Although his test video was met with fan approval, Josh Hutcherson's web-slinging hopes were severed with the casting of Andrew Garfield in the title role of director Marc Webb's Spider-Man reboot. Instead, Hutcherson has been sentenced to Detention.

The Journey to the Center of the Earth actor will star in the indie horror comedy as a high school senior who must fight for survival alongside his fellow classmates when a horror movie slasher comes to life. Hutcherson stars opposite comedian Dane Cook for director Joseph Kahn.

So, it's a bit like The Faculty with some slasher movie flourishes. It's not quite Spider-Man, but it'll do for now while Hutcherson waits for his next big role.
