Josh Gad Keeps Pushing for That Penguin Role

Josh Gad is once again campaigning to play Oswald Cobblepot a.k.a. the Penguin in the DC Extended Universe, but this time, he's trying to goad Nightwing director Chris McKay.

Gad has been very public and very vocal about wanting to play the latest version of the character on screen for some time now, even meeting with DC's film bigwigs such as Jon Berg and Geoff Johns but nothing has really taken off. Recently, McKay took to Twitter to ask fans via a poll about what qualities they wanted to see in the hero, and Gad couldn't help but plug his ambitions.

He replied to McKay with a GIF that showcased Danny DeVito's Penguin who faced off against Michael Keaton's Dark Knight in Tim Burton's 1992 flick Batman Returns. Apart from Nightwing, Matt Reeves' solo Batman movie is in the works from Warner Bros., as well as a Joker film starring Joaquin Phoenix, so there's a lot of Gotham-centric stories that Gad's Penguin could participate in.

Justice League's ending also pointed towards the Legion of Doom with Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) and Deathstroke (Joe Manganiello) preparing to build a society of their own, which means Gad will surely be looking at the villainous areas the DCEU has available to waddle into.
