Created alongside former Key & Peele writer Charlie Sanders, this anthology series Weird City is set to mix blistering satire with classic sci-fi tropes.
The show takes place in a futuristic world where the difference between the upper and lower classes of society have grown to the point where the wealthy are full separated from the rest of society by a giant wall that separates people "Above the Line" and "Below the Line". The tone of the series seems to be a hybrid of Black Mirror and Idiocracy, which shouldn't come as any surprise following the sardonic and subversive other works by Peele.
Along with Peele and Sanders, Jose Molina (The Tick) will serve as an executive producer and showrunner for the series. The six-episode series, which stars Levar Burton, Dylan O'Brien, Ed O'Neill, Rosario Dawson, Michael Cera, Mark Hamill, Laverne Cox, Sara Gilbert, Steven Yeun, Awkwafina, Yvette Nicole Brown and Auli'i Cravalho will premiere on YouTube Premium on Feb. 13.
