Us features Black Panther co-stars Lupita Nyong'o and Winston Duke as a couple on a beach vacation with their two children. Relaxation turns to terror as the family must face down their murderous doppelgangers.

"We are crazy excited to world-premiere the most anticipated film of 2019 from the creative powerhouse that brought us Get Out," said the festival's director of film, Janet Pierson. "We honestly couldn’t imagine a more perfect film to kick off the 2019 SXSW Film Festival.”

SXSW has embraced the horror genre of late. The 2018 festival opened with John Krasinski's A Quiet Place. SXSW will go for 10 days until March 18 in Austin, Texas. During that time, it will screen hundreds of films and have many world premieres.

Written, directed and produced by Peele, Us stars Nyong'o and Duke alongside a stellar supporting cast featuring Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid's Tale), Anna Diop (Titans), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman), Kara Hayward (Moonrise Kingdom), Tim Heidecker (Fantastic Four) and up-and-coming actress Shahadi Wright Joseph (The Lion King).
