Jordan Peele had a major hit on his hands when Get Out exploded in 2017 for $255 million worldwide. Now, it looks like his new film, Us, will get off to an even bigger start.

Deadline reports that Us has early projections to hit a $35 million opening weekend with a chance to reach $40 million. In comparison, Get Out opened with a $33.5 million weekend. It finished with a gross $176 million domestically on a budget of just $4.5 million.

At $20 million, Us has a larger production budget, but these opening weekend projections could have it looking like a huge success right out of the gate.

Universal also has a strong plan in mind when it comes to its release schedule for Us. The studio is  holding the world premiere of the movie first at South by Southwest in Austin on March 8. The film will open wide two weeks later on March 22, which should give it sufficient time to build word-of-mouth hype.

This is similar to the release of A Quiet Place in 2018. That horror movie premiered at SXSW and picked up great critical acclaim and word-of-mouth before its release a month later. The hope is that good word-of-mouth for Us at SXSW could lead to that impressive $40 million mark.

The film's current has no other major studio competition and places it a comfortable three weeks after the premiere of Captain Marvel.

Us is the followup to Jordan Peele's acclaimed Get Out and tells the story of a family tormented by their own doppelgangers.

Written, directed and produced by Jordan Peele, Us stars Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke, Elisabeth Moss, Anna Diop, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Kara Hayward, Tim Heidecker and Shahadi Wright Joseph. It is scheduled to be released on March 22 in theaters everywhere.
