Writer Jonathan Hickman is launching a new X-Men series this fall, with artwork teasing its title including the word "Inferno."

"THE BIGGEST MYSTERIES OF JONATHAN HICKMAN'S X-MEN ERA BURN AWAY IN INFERNO!" the text reads from Marvel's press release. "Inferno" and the art underneath it includes images of Professor Charles Xavier, Magneto, Mystique and Moira MacTaggert, who may all play major roles in the newest installment of the X-Men's "Reign of X" initiative.

Aside from knowing that Inferno will deal with the many mysteries introduced during Hickman's tenure on the X-Men franchise, today's release of X-Men #20 also offers some clues as to what this new series will involve. Mystique has been undertaking top-secret missions spying on Orchis (an anti-mutant organization made of the top scientific minds on Earth) for Xavier and Magneto, in return for the promise that they would move Mystique's wife, Destiny, to the top of the resurrection queue. However, what Mystique is not aware of is that the two mutant leaders have no plans to resurrect Destiny since precogs are currently banned from the mutant island of Krakoa.

After Mystique failed in preventing Orchis from activating Nimrod, the mutant hunter, Xavier and Magneto paying a visit to see Moira in her secret hideaway. Moving forward, Moira may finally start to take a more active role on Krakoa following House of X and Powers of X, which revealed she is secretly a mutant with the power of reincarnation.

Fans got their first tease of Hickman's new X-Men series in April when Marvel released a Reign of X timeline. The graphic laid out recently-released titles Children of the Atom by Vita Ayala and Bernard Chang, Way of X by Si Spurrier and Bob Quinn and X-Corp by Tini Howard and Alberto Foche. In June sees the highly-anticipated Hellfire Gala, which will span across 12 X-Men titles and set up a new status quo for Marvel's mutants. Some celebrity guests slated to appear at the Hellfire Gala include Eminem, Conan O'Brien, Megan Rapinoe, Alex Morgan, Ira Glass and Pete Alonso.

Jonathan Hickman's Inferno X-Men series will premiere in September.
