Five years after leaving Comedy Central's The Daily Show, Apple announced it struck a deal with Jon Stewart for an Apple TV+ current affairs show.

The still-untitled show is a part of a multi-year deal between the tech company and Stewart. Stewart will host and executive produce a series of hourlong, single-subject episodes over multiple seasons. He will produce the series through his production company Busboy Productions alongside his longtime manager James Dixon and former HBO executive Richard Plepler's EDEN Productions.

In the upcoming series, Stewart will tackle a variety of topics centered on national conversations and his advocacy work. The series will have a companion podcast and will announce a showrunner at a later date.

As part of Stewart's deal, Apple has an exclusive first-look for any projects the director develops and produces. Since leaving the comedy news series in 2015, Stewart has been busy advocating for the 9/11 first responders' rights in Washington and through television appearances. He currently serves as executive producer on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Recently, he directed the Steve Carell-led political satire Irresistible.
