We all go a little bit mad sometimes, even the Man of Steel. But according to a new rumor, Superman could get really Mad in the form of leading man Jon Hamm.

This isn't the first time that Hamm has had his name connected to the next Superman movie, but the rumor has reared its head again: according to Think McFly Think, the artist formerly known as Dick Whitman is being "seriously considered" by Warner Bros. to don the DC Comics icon's red and blue tights. If cast, Hamm would be 40 years old by the time Man of Steel arrives in theaters — certainly an older, more mature take on the character, but one that many fans could undoubtedly get behind.

Hamm is certainly in the WB's good graces with his upcoming roles in The Town and Sucker Punch, so it's possible that this rumor holds some weight. But even if it does, the question remains: does Hamm even want the job? Once upon a time, the actor told MTV News that Superman is "a tricky road to go down" because the character lacks flaws. "Superman is Superman — he's invincible, so where's the drama?" he asked.

Truthfully, I've always seen Hamm as a better pick for Batman than Superman, but I would certainly be interested in seeing his take on the Last Son of Krypton. What say you, Spinoff readers?
