As principal photography for filmmaker Todd Phillips' Joker origin film continues in New York City, the latest group of set photos showcase the best look yet at Joaquin Phoenix's portrayal of the title character.A new round of images leaked online through entertainment news site Just Jared over the weekend with the production filming a scene of Gotham City police rushing into the subways as Phoenix's Clown Prince of Crime casually walked past them while smoking a cigarette.RELATED:Â Joker: Distracted Boyfriend Meme Gets a Hilarious Upgrade
Despite wearing the DC Comics' villain's classic outfit and makeup, the officers did not appear preoccupied by Phoenix's character in the scene, running by him without hesitation as filming continued.
As such, it is unclear if that means the city is facing a different threat before Phoenix's Arthur Fleck becomes his own villain as previous set video and photos showed crowds of extras fleeing a gang of clowns in the subway seemingly led by Phoenix.
