Joker on Track for Major Box Office Milestone

Now the highest grossing R-rated film of all time, Todd Phillips' Joker has made $934 million globally, putting the film on track to reach $1 billion at the box office.

Some are are saying Joker could hit $1 billion in the next few weeks, even without China's market being factored in. The film is unlikely to release in China due to their government's concerns over the film's content. Other recent films to pass the $1 billion mark include Toy Story 4, Aladdin, Captain Marvel and Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Joker is also on track to becoming one of the biggest comic book films of all time. The movie recently stole the eighth spot in highest-grossing comic book films, beating out 2007's Spider-Man 3, 2013's Man of Steel and 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Joker is set to release on the HBO Max streaming service sometime in 2020. Plenty of other DC shows and live-action films are also set to be featured in the HBO Max catalog as well. The service will be dropping in May 2020.

Directed by Todd Phillips, Joker stars Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais and Shea Whigham. Joker is now in theaters.
