A new poll reveals the amount of excitement surrounding Joaquin Phoenix's portrayal of the Clown Prince of Crime in director Todd Phillips' Joker.

Morning Consult and The Hollywood Reporter released a National Tracking Poll, which surveyed 2,201 adults to get their thoughts on various Batman-related feature films in the pipeline. When the question of what audiences expect out of Phoenix's Joker came up, the overwhelming response ranged from Excellent to Good.

The Frequency of the Excellent response was 808, with 672 responding Good. The remaining Frequency was 200 Fair, 44 Poor and 477 Don't Know/No Opinion. The Percentage for Excellent and Good was 37% and 31%, respectively.

The favorable response to the poll shows how much fans are eagerly waiting to see the Joker's origin story play out on the big screen. There have been plenty of great actors to play the role of Batman's greatest villain, but that doesn't diminish the excitement building for Phoenix's take on the character.

Phillips confirmed Joker's official R-rating earlier this week in an Instagram post when asked by a commenter. "It will be Rated R. I’ve been asked this a lot. Just assumed people knew. Sorry," he replied.
