Joker: Joaquin Phoenix Film's First Poster Announces Teaser Trailer Date

Joker director Todd Phillips has released the first poster for the upcoming film and revealed when fans will finally get a look at its long-anticipated trailer.

Phillips shared the image of Phoenix as Joker on Instagram. The poster uses the tagline "Put on a Happy Face." Phillips' post also reveals that the movie's first teaser trailer will release on Wednesday, April 3.

There were some rumors leading up to April Fools' that the movie's first trailer would release then, but that date came and passed with no new footage.

Joker is a story about Arthur Fleck, a failed comedian who turns into the psychotic supervillain known as The Joker. According to Warner Bros., the film will be an independent story and will not take place within the continuity of the DC Extended Universe. Several images have emerged, as well as footage from the set of the film, but no further details have been released. The teaser will, hopefully, reveal more about what fans can expect from the film.

Directed by Todd Phillips, Joker stars Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Dante Pereira-Olson, Douglas Hodge and Josh Pais. The film arrives in theaters Oct. 4.
