Joker Director Shares New Look At Joaquin Phoenix in Clown Costume

Joaquin Phoenix's starring role in the upcoming Joker film looks to present the future villain as a man of many faces.

Filmmaker Todd Phillips has posted a new photo on his Instagram account from the set of the DC Comics film with Phoenix dressed as a very different sort of clown than he has previously appeared in leaked photos and videos.

Featuring even heavier makeup than his earlier appearance, the new look has Phoenix barely recognizable as he looks taciturn and contemplative.

Throughout principal photography, Phillips has attempted to stay one step ahead of the paparazzi releasing photos and videos through his social media accounts to offer fans a better look at the characters than amateur footage taken from the set.

Phillips had posted a makeup test featuring Phoenix's Joker last week before posting a first look photo at Zazie Beetz's currently unnamed character over the weekend.

Directed and co-written by Todd Phillips, Joker stars Joaquin Phoenix as the titular character along with Robert De Niro, Marc Maron, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, and Bill Camp. It is scheduled to be released on October 4, 2019.
