WARNING: The following article contains spoilers from The Joker Presents: A Puzzlebox #6, on sale now from DC Comics.

The Joker has always been a man of many skills, some of which seem to be impossibly good for someone with no formal training. Yet, he possesses talent in certain areas that often rival that of Batman's.

One skill the mad villain possesses may actually be on par with that of the Dark Knight, and could explain why he continues to torment the Bat-Family and Gotham City. Even more disturbing is that it draws a dark parallel between himself and his caped nemesis, reinforcing the idea of the Joker being a dark reflection of the Caped Crusader.

In The Joker Presents: A Puzzlebox #6 (by Matthew Rosenberg, Jesus Merino, Shawn Crystal, Vicente Cifuentes, Ulises Arreola, Juan Doe, Ferran Delgado), while being interrogated by Jim Gordon, the Joker broke free of his handcuffs to threaten Jim. In this moment, he revealed that he was entirely capable of freeing himself at any moment and only went along with the "interrogation" to toy with the police and stall for time. As a result, he managed to get his hands on one of Batman's greatest allies by using the same kind of skills the Dark Knight famously employs.

This is not the first time he has demonstrated such prowess. The Joker has escaped from Arkham Asylum, a high security facility, innumerable times in the past. What makes this even more impressive is that Arkham has only tried to improve its security over the years, but has still been able to contain the madman. His twisted mind can be credited for helping him come up with extraordinarily clever ways to escape, but there is another possible explanation for how he became so skilled.

If one of his many possible origin stories is to be believed, then the Joker spent some time working as a common criminal. This meant he would have had to learn certain skills to survive the streets, such as how to use a gun, breaking and entering, and of course, escaping the scene of a crime. Now granted, this could in no way provide the level of skill the Joker possesses now, but it is sure to have laid a foundation. This origin also provide a contrast to Batman's training as a crime-fighter.

Bruce Wayne spent years traveling the globe, learning from the world's greatest masters. In this way, he gained the skills he needed to be successful in his mission. The same can be said for the Joker in a way. His beginnings set him on a path to achieve mastery over the skills that every criminal uses, making him a cut above the rest. This also supports the argument of him being a twisted version of the Dark Knight. Whereas Batman learned from the best and most respectable, Joker learned from the worst and most deplorable. It really drives home that as similar as they are, they are still polar opposites, each representing the best and worst of what the city could create.
