Joker Assembles League Of Worst Villains In Extended LEGO Batman Spot

by  in Movie News Comment

The latest extended TV spot for “The LEGO Batman Movie” establishes plenty about the animated world that Will Arnett’s Caped Crusader lives in. This LEGO Batman is a bit more aloof and pompous and self righteous than any Dark Knight we’ve seen before — and he’s not above breaking the Joker’s heart. But that’s all right, because the Joker (Zach Galifianakis) has plenty of super-powered menaces to pal around with — like Condiment King.

Yep. Condiment King. LEGO’s Condiment King.

The new extended spot, seen above, also features more of the Worst Villains in the History of the Universe, including Gentleman Ghost, Calendar Man and the aforementioned Condiment King. “They’re all real,” assures Joker.

A spinoff of 2014’s “The LEGO Movie,” “The LEGO Batman Movie” sees Will Arnett reprise his voice role as the Dark Knight, joined by Michael Cera as Robin, Rosario Dawson as Batgirl, Ralph Fiennes as Alfred, Mariah Carey as the mayor of Gotham and Zach Galifianakis as The Joker. In the film, Batman discovers that if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, he may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.

“The LEGO Movie” earned $469 million worldwide, and won an Academy Award for best original song for “Everything is Awesome.” A sequel is planned for Feb. 8, 2019, with another spinoff, “The LEGO Ninjago Movie,” set for release next year.

Arriving February 10, 2017, “The LEGO Batman Movie” is directed by Chris McKay from a script by Seth Grahame-Smith.
