Director Todd Phillips' upcoming DC film Joker: Folie à Deux has officially wrapped production.

Phillips took to Instagram to celebrate the end of filming by sharing a brand-new image of Lady Gaga as Dr. Harleen Quinzel, aka Harley Quinn. The still apparently takes place after the character adopts the latter moniker, with Harleen sporting jester-like black makeup around her eyes, as well as red lipstick. She also appears to be standing in the elevator of Arthur Fleck/Joker's apartment building, mirroring the iconic shot of the Clown Prince of Crime from the final act of 2019's Joker. On that note, Phillips also shared a new image of Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur himself, who is seen if full Joker makeup while riding inside what appears to be a prison bus.

"That's a wrap," Phillips wrote. "Thanks to these two (+ the entire cast) and the BEST crew that the film industry has to offer. From top to bottom. Gonna crawl into a cave now (edit room) and put it all together." Cameras started rolling on Folie à Deux back in December.

Joker: Folie à Deux Re-Imagines a Twisted Romance

Like its 2019 predecessor, Folie à Deux is directed by Phillips from a screenplay he co-wrote with Scott Silver. 2019's Joker served to explore the origins of Arthur Fleck, an alternate version of the eponymous DC supervillain. The upcoming sequel continues the story by offering a new take on the notorious, twisted romance between the Joker and Harley Quinn, with the Clown Prince of Crime drawing the psychiatrist into his cult of personality.

Phoenix, who won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in Joker, reprises his role as Arthur Fleck for Folie à Deux. Lady Gaga, an Oscar winner in her own right, joins the fray as Dr. Quinzel. Harley Quinn has previously been played in live-action by Mia Sara in the short-lived television series Birds of Prey (2002-2003) and, more recently, by Margot Robbie in the DC Extended Universe films Suicide Squad (2016), Birds of Prey (2020) and The Suicide Squad (2021).

Additionally, Folie à Deux stars Zazie Beetz, who reprises her role as Sophie Dumond from 2019's Joker. The sequel also features several newcomers. Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland and Harry Lawtey have all been cast in undisclosed roles. Billed as a musical/psychological thriller, Folie à Deux is currently slated to hit theaters in 17 months' time as part of DC Studios' new Elseworlds label.
