Yoshikage Kira was the main antagonist of the fourth act of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. He was a man driven to become a serial killer due to his deviant fantasies, but paradoxically wanted a quiet life devoid of confrontation or risk. Many fans found this dichotomy compelling, especially when considering how one-dimensional most of the series' antagonists tend to be.

The series demonstrated many positive and negative facets of Kira's life that render it more multifaceted than one might expect. By identifying the best and worst things going for him, we can better determine if his existence was a pleasant one before his demise.

10 Perk: Yoshikage Kira Was Anonymous For The First Half Of The Act

Unlike most JoJo's villains, Yoshikage Kira was not explicitly introduced shortly following the act's beginning. On the contrary, he only came into prominence after Diamond Is Unbreakable was halfway finished and immediately returned to hiding once exposed.

This reflected well of his personality as a man averse to confrontation and played into the strengths of Killer Queen. Moreover, it gave Kira an opportunity to display his greatest asset - his ruthless intelligence.

9 Harsh Reality: After Being Discovered, Yoshikage Kira Was Relentlessly Hunted

Josuke became aware of Kira's presence due to the warnings of Reimi Sugimoto. He was determined to bring her killer to justice, especially once his role in Shigechi's demise became clear.

Although Kira managed to evade Josuke and Jotaro for a time, he wasn't even safe with his new family. Hayato almost immediately knew that the person who came home wasn't his father. After following him on his way to and back from work, the young boy's suspicions were confirmed, and it wouldn't be long before the hour of Kira's reckoning.

8 Perk: Yoshikage Kira's Stand Is Highly Versatile & Suits His Needs

Anime JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Yoshikage Kira Killer Queen Stand

Yoshikage Kira's Killer Queen Stand accommodates his needs perfectly. An ability to set inanimate objects as bombs allows him to destroy enemies from obscurity, and he can fine-tune his explosives so acutely that the subject's hands are preserved.

Additionally, his Bites The Dust ability made it impossible for Hayato to share his identity with anyone. Were it not for Kira's own hubris, he would have managed to destroy the Morioh avengers and continue with his carefree life of wanton murder.

7 Harsh Reality: Yoshikage Kira Is The Least Deadly JoJo's Villain To Date

Kira's new face

Ironically, Yoshikage Kira has the lowest body count of any main JoJo's villain despite his branding as a serial killer. He only managed to murder Shigechi, who can scarcely even be called a JoBro, given his treacherous nature and willingness to betray Josuke's trust.

Although Kira paradoxically has also murdered all of the act's heroes, his victory existed only in a timeline that Bites The Dust failed to maintain. Even Okuyasu, whom he had killed before activating his Requiem power, returned to life through Josuke's healing and Keicho's encouragement.

6 Perk: Yoshikage's Father Raised An Army Of Stand Users On His Behalf

Yoshihiro was Yoshikage's protective father. Using a Stand arrow he had obtained, he diligently scoured Morioh for potential users who could protect his son and was largely successful to that end.

The elder was so diligent that he even snuck into Josuke's pocket during the final battle in order to relay his proximity for Stray Cat's remote explosives. Poetically, Yoshihiro was accidentally incinerated by the same man he swore to protect with all of his strength.

5 Harsh Reality: Some Of Yoshikage's Minions Turned On Him

Shooting random people with Stand arrows is not always the most reliable form of recruitment since their loyalty isn't guaranteed. In some cases, the minions Yoshihiro made to protect his son were not as trustworthy as he had assumed.

This was demonstrated during Josuke's battle with Terunosuke. Although the fearmongering villain had the ruffian in the palm of his hand, Yuya Fungami, a former evildoer who Josuke had healed, joined the battle and saved his life. In the end, Yoshikage Kira realized that he could not rely on anyone but himself.

4 Perk: Yoshikage Kira Inherited A Loving & Supportive Wife

Having been discovered during an ill-fated trip to the tailor, Yoshikage Kira fled the Morioh avengers, kidnapped a random man, and forced Aya to use her Stand in order to let him steal his victim's identity.

When he returned to the man's address, he quickly and accidentally seduced his wife, Shinobu. Ironically, Kira's presence was the best thing that happened to their marriage. It wasn't long before she fell in love with the stranger in her household without ever realizing who he actually was.

3 Harsh Reality: Yoshikage Kira Has An Insatiable Addiction To Murder

Yoshikage Kira's addiction to murder was evident after escaping the heroes of Morioh. Every day he went without taking a life, his fingernails grew longer, and he became increasingly unstable. The villain's habits were so profound that he even considered attacking his own wife. In the end, he justified his restraint under the notion that it would arouse too much suspicion.

Instead, Kira stalked and killed a random couple. Since Hayato had the foresight to follow him, however, he would soon pay for his vice and wickedness.

2 Perk: Yoshikage Kira Had The Perfect Chance To Get Away With Murder

Kira kills Hayato but Killer Queen resets time and undoes the murder

Throughout the series, Kira had abundant opportunities to get away with murder. The clearest solution was to stop killing people after sacrificing his old identity. Eventually, Hayato would have dropped his suspicion and been forced to accept him as his father.

Even if he refused to put aside his addiction, Kira could have also simply refused to allow Hayato his phone call in one of Bites The Dust's many rewinds. Alternatively, he could have refrained from publicly incriminating himself. Since Kira had every possible advantage, his downfall was ultimately his fault alone.

1 Harsh Reality: Yoshikage Kira Had A Horrifically Violent End

Anime Diamond Is Unbreakable Kira Ambulance Death

Weakened by Josuke and bludgeoned by Jotaro, Yoshikage Kira's luck had finally run out. Just as he was beginning to recover, his body was crushed by an ambulance.

However, the villain's torments had only just begun. Upon death, his spirit was promptly whisked to Reimi's alleyway. When he finally looked over his shoulder at the inconceivable horrors that dwelt within it, they dragged him into an abyss of presumably endless agony. In the end, Kira suffered a fate far grislier and more painful than any of his victims.
