The JoJo's Bizarre Adventure universe primarily consists of battles between charismatic heroes and dastardly villains through the proxies of their Stands. From Morioh to Italy, their fights are unique, engaging, and define their respective acts.

However, it isn't without grave consequence. Many innocent civilians have been caught in the crosshairs of skirmishes between Stand users. By identifying the matchups where such risks have occurred, we can better appreciate how the series' battles affect the world around it, with more than merely the lives of the heroes at stake if they should be unsuccessful.

10 Kakyoin Took A Human Hostage Against Jotaro

JoJo Bizarre Stardust Crusaders Kakyoin Stand

Kakyoin's first battle against Jotaro displayed how dire the pernicious effects of DIO's brain parasite really were. Under its influence, he took a hospital nurse as a hostage through puppeteering her body with his "Hierophant Green" Stand.

Fortunately, Jotaro was able to adapt to the situation and overcome the man who would later become a friend. By kissing the woman and sucking Noriaki's Stand out, he could pummel it safely without risking harm to the innocent party involved. This victory was among Kujo's most creative applications of Star Platinum.

9 Kakyoin Saved An Entire Plane From Gray Fly

Gray Fly's Stand, Tower Of Gray, was an international threat responsible for destroying planes, crashing submarines, and even jeopardizing trains. When the Crusaders boarded an airline destined for Cairo, he sought to obstruct them by employing his most infamously effective skillset.

Since there were dozens of passengers onboard, Jotaro couldn't attempt to unleash Star Platinum's fist barrage. Fortunately, Kakyoin managed to tangle the insect's limbs within his dispersed Hierophant Green, rendering the villain immobile and trivial to defeat with the force of Emerald Splash.

8 Anubis Possessed An Innocent Barber & Fought Polnareff

Polnareff vs anubis barber

Anubis was a Stand in the shape of a sword that was capable of possessing any foolish enough to wield it. Though Polnareff managed to defeat its first host, the second was significantly more difficult. After the rogue Stand obtained the body of the Frenchman's barber, their fight quickly escalated to a public square.

Propitiously, Silver Chariot was skilled enough to cut down the villain again despite his enhanced experience and reflexes. However, he would need to be defeated a third time after Polnareff unwittingly touched Anubis's handle and fell under his spell. Though Jotaro was not fast enough to catch the blade with Star Platinum, he was still strong enough to break it off in his stomach.

7 Jotaro's Battle Against Dio Occurred In A Populated City

Jotaro versus dio

Jotaro's battle against Dio had innumerable civilian casualties. The vampire bore no compunctions about using those around him as tools for his success, demanding that a woman fetch his severed leg for him and hijacking a senator's car while forcing him to become his unwitting chauffer.

In the instance of the latter, he slew the man after his usefulness had ended, having become sufficiently caught up with the fleeing heroes. Brando's apathy for human life rendered everyone near the battlefield in grave peril.

6 Josuke Couldn't Stop His Grandfather From Being Killed By Anjuro

Anjuro in Diamond Is Unbreakable.

Anjuro was a local serial killer who used his Stand as his primary means of murder. He deceived Josuke's grandfather into drinking tainted water, killing him in seconds and well before Higashikata could use Shining Diamond in order to heal the elder's wounds.

Enraged at the villain's depravity, Josuke managed to expose the villain from his hiding place before unleashing a flurry of punches. Death was too merciful for Anjuro - instead, his body was fused with a rock.

5 Josuke Almost Ran Over A Baby When Running Away From Highway Star

Yuya Fungami's Highway Star was an inexorable, nigh indestructible force that chased Josuke across Morioh. He was so unrelenting that he nearly forced the young man to run over a mother and her baby on a motorcycle.

Fortunately, Higashikata managed to unmake and rebuild his vehicle as he sailed through the air, using his velocity so that the enemy Stand couldn't catch up with him. The chase could have portended two disastrous casualties if Josuke's gambit wasn't successful.

4 Ken Took Shizuka Joestar Hostage

After Rohan Kishibe had frequent success against Ken in games of Rock, Paper, Scissors, the villain proved to be a poor sport and demanded a rematch. In order to incentivize the author, he took a nearby baby - Shizuka Joestar - hostage, using her to coerce Kishibe into another round.

Fortunately, Rohan was able to defeat him again, crushing Ken's will to live. Though the evildoer threw himself in front of an ongoing truck, Rohan saved his life out of admiration for his competitive spirit.

3 Cioccolata Murdered Bystanders Indiscriminately During Team Bucciarati's Arrival

Cioccolata and Green Day in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind.

Cioccolata's Stand was capable of reducing anyone caught in its reach into a noxious mold, withering away muscle and bone rapidly. As Team Bucciarati neared Polnareff's rendezvous location, the mad scientist employed his ability indiscriminately and with the highest number of civilian casualties yet in the JoJo's universe.

Though the heroes themselves were directly harmed by the Stand's effects, they were wise enough to retreat before being completely defeated to identify the weakness behind Cioccolata's power. After Giovanna healed them, one of the series' most brutal fights ensued.

2 Prosciutto's Grateful Dead Withered Away Dozens Of Innocent Train Passengers

Prosciutto from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Golden Wind

Prosciutto's Grateful Dead Stand was able to cover a broad radius and rapidly age everything caught in its sway. It was an excellent tactic for the Squadra member to use in rooting out his heroic adversaries, especially since he didn't mind the civilians he placed in danger by doing so.

Several dozen train passengers were severely affected by his Stand, with one of them even being killed performatively in order for Prosciutto to ease his brother's trepidation about the mission. Since the bystanders didn't have access to ice, they couldn't regulate their body temperature and avoid Grateful Dead's effects.

1 Silver Chariot Requied Switched The Souls Of Countless Civilians

When Silver Chariot evolved into a Requiem Stand, it achieved its own autonomy and switched the minds of everyone in its vicinity - including the heroes' and villains'. Though it fortunately did not have any immediate casualties (aside from Doppio, who had been inserted into Bucciarati's broken body), many nearby civilians were placed in grave jeopardy.

Their minds were exchanged with babies, dogs, and even insects, providing a brief window where their mortality was alarmingly imperiled. Fortunately, Bruno put an end to Silver Chariot Requiem before any irreversible harm could be suffered.
