In the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure universe, it is often easy to identify Stand users (especially enemies) through the unusual costumes or character designs they have. True to the series' odd nature, no two individuals are alike, and many of them have characteristics which exemplify their identities

Some look absurdly ridiculous or unintimidating, belying the true nature of their potential for destruction. By acknowledging these characters and the power they wield, we can better understand how their underwhelming aesthetics contrast their macabre potential and the many ways they have demonstrated it throughout the story.

10 Doppio

Doppio was the "servant" of the Boss, wearing a bright outfit and often speaking with a pleasant lilt. Not only did he present himself as harmless, he was also a bit wild (receiving "phone calls" from his master through unconventional means, such as frogs or a child's toy).

However, what many did not know was that beneath this unassuming exterior was Diavolo himself. He was almost able to keep his secret from Risotto, a man hellbent on destroying his master (who would ironically be slain by heroes with the same intention).

9 Rohan Kishibe

Rohan Kishibe frequently carried himself with a posh gait and equally lush mannerisms, entailing that in a fight, he would not fare particularly well. Despite his eccentricity (licking the corpse of a spider before eating it), his lithe frame does not speak well of his combat ability.

However, his "Heaven's Door" Stand is among the most insanely powerful utilities in the series. With it, he can make his opponents act, learn, or believe anything, even capable of turning them physically blind on a whim. This makes him one of the few Stand users capable of challenging DIO.

8 Pet Shop

Pet Shop was a surprisingly dangerous enemy in Stardust Crusaders

Pet Shop was a falcon that circled DIO's manor. Though he may appear comparatively harmless when matched against the vampire's other servants, he is handily one of his most potent assets.

The bird could unleash massive jettisons of ice at a moment's notice, easily capable of killing an ordinary person before they realized the threat he had posed. He was one of the few antagonists to cause meaningful damage against the heroes (as Iggy had lost his paw from their battle against one another). Should Jotaro and the others have found him first, he might have inflicted unprecedented disaster through a surprise attack.

7 Pesci

Pesci from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Golden Wind

Despite his ridiculous physical appearance, neckless head, and cowardly mannerisms, Pesci's Stand is one of the most formidable challenges Giorno and his team had encountered in the Golden Wind story.

His fishing rod was capable of passing through any physical object in order to find its target - ideally, its opponent's heart or brain. This made him one of the few Stand users that could kill any enemy in a single touch and spoke to the true potential at his fingertips. Though he may not have had the encompassing withering power of his brother, he was certainly a worthy compliment to him.

6 N'Doul

N'Doul was a blind man with a seemingly unimpressive Stand who had ambushed Jotaro and his allies in the desert. Through these debilitations, one might assume that he was one of the least daunting challenges Kujo had to overcome.

However, it could not be further from the truth. He was capable of detecting his opponents through the steps they took, manifesting his Stand's claws to become as sharp and hard as steel before attacking them. With this technique, he gouged both of Kakyoin's eyes, forcing him to retire to the hospital for a considerable portion of the story.

5 Steely Dan

Steely Dan from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.

Steely Dan is unique among the Stand users in the sense that his appearance is feasible and comparatively normal to the rest of the populace. This allows him a unique advantage, however, since his mild aesthetics grant him the first move in combat.

Once his "Lovers" have infiltrated the minds of their targets, they are difficult to remove (multiplying within their victim's skull if challenged). Whatever pain is dealt to Dan is reflected to his subject directly, making him a treacherous opponent to defeat.

4 J. Geil

J. Geil was allegedly a deformed man with two right hands that could not fend for himself. This made him an unlikely opponent, one easy to take pity on (were it not for the fact that he had murdered Polnareff's sister in cold blood).

Geil is stronger than his lamentable appearance might suggest. His "Hanged Man" Stand is able to infiltrate anything with a reflection, including human eyes. Bouncing between surfaces with impossible speed, it is virtually impossible to defeat him without a strategy in mind. Fortunately, Jean Pierre had concocted one before it was too late.

3 D'arby The Player

Given D'arby's lush and hospitable mannerisms (as well as what the crusaders knew of his brother), it was relatively safe to assume that he would not be a formidable physical combatant.

However, his Stand was able to ask its target yes or no questions, entailing that he could dodge upcoming punches with perfect clarity. Moreover, he is able to lock down his opponents' limbs after touching them, making a single failed attack a critical mistake that he could capitalize on.

2 Hazamada

Hazamada from jojo

Hazamada is a short and belligerent young man who Rohan Kishibe had likened to a troll. Despite his curt mannerisms and pathetic physical frame, he was one of the strongest challenges Josuke Higashikata had faced in the Diamond Is Unbreakable story.

His "Surface" Stand was capable of assuming the likeness of anyone to a degree convincing enough that he could deceive their admirers and friends. After he had done so, the victim of his ability would be forced to mimic its movements. For example, he could make his target suffocate themselves, rendering him a criminally underrated villain.

1 Yoshikage Kira

Yoshikage Kira Blond JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Diamond is Unbreakable

Unlike many other Stand users, Yoshikage Kira takes deliberate care not to present himself as particularly menacing. He takes pride in the mellow and innocuous life that he purports to live so that he might better indulge his murderous addiction.

He had evaded Morioh's police in both his first and second identities, entailing his competence as a killer. Were it not for Shigechi's final act of courage and sacrifice, it would have been impossible to track him down without falling victim to the explosive wrath of Deadly Queen the moment they came close to uncovering him.
