Giorno Giovanna is the strongest member of Team Bucciarati, able to create life with his Stand, "Golden Wind." This allows for some of the most versatile solutions to the many adversaries he faces of the entire JoJo's Bizarre Adventure universe, especially since he can heal himself.
Despite an impressive legacy, the mafioso is not invincible-- at least, not before he evolves his Stand into Golden Wind Requiem. By analyzing the opponents capable of defeating him, fans gain a better understanding to the strengths and limitations of DIO's son and appreciate how much of an underdog he really was.
10 Prosciutto
Prosciutto's Stand, "the Grateful Dead," proved to be such an overwhelming threat to team Bucciarati that it was nearly able to defeat them even with a full understanding of its weakness. Ultimately, Giorno had little role in conquering him, deferring to the skills of Mista and Bruno.
This was a calculated decision. As aptly as Golden Wind might heal Giovanna, it cannot reverse his aging. Therefore, all the Stand user must do is prolong the fight, exchanging melee attacks as necessary so that Giorno might rapidly deteriorate into a withered husk.
9 DIO
DIO's "the World" Stand was able to stop time for a full five seconds (and even longer with the blood of a Joestar to master his newfound body). Within this period, he was capable of defeating Kakyoin in a single blow by ripping a hole in his chest.
Should he use this same ability against his son, he would not have time to heal himself, especially if the vampire targets his head. Since DIO has superior durability, offense, and arguably even speed, the only advantages Giorno has are of his mending and ability to disorient opponents with two punches.
8 Ghiaccio
Ghiaccio's Stand not only affects a wide radius (able to attack Giorno on his own terms) but also provides an impervious shield against his adversaries. The closer Giovanna approaches the ice man, the more rapidly his body begins to freeze.
Since his armor protects virtually his entire body, throwing projectiles at him like he did against Cioccolata is out of the question. If Ghiaccio targets Giorno's hands, his foe is especially doomed since he is no longer able to heal the increasingly severe injuries that have been inflicted against him.
7 Okuyasu
Okuyasu's "the Hand" Stand allows him to erase anything, including space itself. While he may not have exceptional durability, he can use this skill to get in close to his adversary before dealing the killing stroke.
Moreover, the subjects of his attacks cannot heal themselves to their original states. This was observed through Josuke's warning that Shining Diamond could not restore a girl's hair after Nijimura used his Stand to "extinguish" the fire that had been started on her head. Therefore, Giovanna's usually reliable tactic of self-defense would be completely useless, and he would be forced to rely on his agility if he should have a chance at winning at all.
6 Yoshikage Kira
Yoshikage Kira was an extremely difficult opponent for Josuke and his allies to overcome. Given the difference between Giorno and Higashikata's nature of healing (creating new body parts as opposed to reforming the old ones back into their initial state), it follows that the high schooler's means of launching projectiles would not be as evenly effective with Giovanna.
Moreover, Deadly Queen decides when and how its explosives are detonated. It would provide a tactical advantage against Giorno to overcome his healing since he could use it when his adversary was unprepared to mend his wounds.
5 Alessi
Alessi's Stand, "Sethan," allows him to regress anything that is caught within his shadow. Given that he refuses to enter a fight without this advantage and was able to use it against Polnareff despite the latter being aware of his intentions in advance, it reasons that he would be able to ambush Giorno with some success.
Since Giovanna was unable to heal himself as a child (learning the skill midway through the Golden Wind story), he would be deprived of an essential tool necessary to stop the creep and lose as a result.
4 Jotaro
Like DIO, Jotaro is able to unleash an intense flurry of melee attacks, one arguably greater than the vampire's himself. His physical power was so great that Brando was reluctant to approach him even though he was able to control time with staggeringly more efficiency.
To defeat Giorno, Kujo must approach him, stop time, and deliver a myriad of attacks that would leave his body broken in a way similar to how Yoshikage Kira was ultimately bested.
3 Bug-Eaten
Bug-Eaten was a rat whose Stand was capable of turning anything it hit into a meaty, viscous sludge. It was so harrowingly effective that it took the combined efforts of Jotaro and Josuke to overcome him.
Should Giovanna attempt to catch his dart, his degradation would begin instantly. Since it would entail his hands were transformed along with the rest of his body, he could not use it to heal himself and amend his mistake. This would guarantee his loss whether or not the rat had a significant advantage of distance.
2 Pet Shop
Pet Shop has a number of advantages he would be able to exploit against Giorno. His "Horus" Stand allows him to summon glaciers so immense that a direct hit could obliterate Giovanna's entire body, preventing him from healing at all.
As a hawk, he is also extremely difficult to hit, forcing his opponent to rely on projectiles in hopes of bringing him down. However, with how sharply the avian was able to maneuver, it is extremely unlikely that this strategy would be successful even if the objects Giovanna threw changed shape after they were launched from his arm.
1 Rubber Soul
Rubber Soul's "Yellow Temperance" Stand proved a witting combination of offense and defense. It was able to shield his entire body, rendering him resistant to Golden Wind's punches.
Further, the slime was able to creep onto its adversary's arm, slowly devouring its proteins and spreading like a plague. While Giovanna would be able to overcome this by chopping off his own hand and growing a new one, it still does not account for the fact that he has no means of doing significant damage against his viscous opponent. As a result, he would be forced to either flee or die.
