JoJo's Bizarre Adventure takes on the standard structure of a fighting-based shonen anime. However, it is anything but cookie-cutter. Each part introduces eccentric characters, ridiculous moments, and camp galore. This is what makes the series so unique.

Among all the fighting, there are a few fights that stand out each season, often between the protagonist and an interesting and whimsical foe. Sometimes, these are hyped-up fights between the main protagonists (usually a Joestar) and the main antagonist, but this is not always the case. Here are the ten best fights in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure that lived up to their hype.

10 Jonathan Versus Dio Did Not End The Way Fans Expected

JoJo Bizarre DIO Fights Jonathan Joestar Swords

After Dio survived their initial fight in the Joestar mansion, fans were frustrated. Jonathan Joestar had finally come up with an elaborate plan to stop the vampire menace, but it did not work (fully). On top of that, Dio spent the entire series thus far committing horrible acts of violence and depravity.

Fans were ready to see Jonathan defeat Dio and give him his comeuppance. However, Dio survived that battle too. Still, it was a much more satisfying fight than the previous and following fights between him and Jonathan.

9 Joseph Joestar's Fight With Straizo Was The First Time Fans Got To See His Genius

Straizo self destructs with Hamon

While Strazio did not last long as a villain, the fight between him and Joseph Joestar was one of the most iconic in the season. Not only did Straizo surprise everyone by becoming a villain when he had been a hero in the previous part, but he also proved to be a difficult villain to fight.

However, Joseph was too smart for Straizo, outmaneuvering him at almost every turn. This fight was so fun for showcasing Joseph's iconic ability to think ahead and know what others will do before they even know it themselves.

8 Joseph's Rematch With Wamuu Was Sad But Satisfying

Joseph vs Wammu

Joseph had not faired well against the Pillar Man, Wamuu, at the beginning of Battle Tendency. However, Wamuu was obsessed with fair fights and being honorable, so he let Joseph live to get stronger. Joseph trained with Lisa Lisa and Caesar Zeppeli to get better with his Hamon usage. However, his final confrontation with Wamuu was sad.

Caesar rushed into battle with Wamuu, and before Joseph could find either of them again, Caesar has already died. This was not before giving Joseph the antidote in a Hamon bubble, which inspired Joseph to win.

7 Joseph Versus Kars Almost Ended Terribly

Joseph defeats Ultimate Kars by sending him into space Battle Tendency

The whole of Battle Tendency witnesses Joseph Joestar racing against the clock to keep Kars and his companions from becoming ultimate lifeforms. So, when Kars finally reaches his goal and becomes Ultimate Lifeform Kars, both Joseph and fans know the fights will be a lot more serious, and they had already been pretty serious (especially when Caesar Zeppeli died).

It took throwing Kars into a volcano and then launching him into space to defeat him, and Kars did not die, he was just frozen like a comet and sent drifting through the universe.

6 Pet Shop Almost Destroyed Iggy

Pet Shop was a surprisingly dangerous enemy in Stardust Crusaders

The Pet Shop versus Iggy fight lived up to its hype simply because there was not much hype. A fight between a bird and a dog seemed like there would not be much to it, but if fans ever thought this, they were wrong. Not only did Pet Shop destroy innocent animals, but it also maimed Iggy.

Iggy almost died at the hands of Pet Shop, and though there were no human Stand users present during this fight, it was anxiety-inducing for Iggy and fans alike.

5 Polnareff, Iggy, And Avdol Versus Vanilla Ice Was Heartwrenching

Iggy sacrifices himself to save Polnareff

One of the saddest moments in all of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure was when Jean Pierre Polnareff lost Muhammad Avdol and Iggy to the Stand wielding vampire, Vanilla Ice, and his incredibly powerful Stand, Cream. Avdol was immediately destroyed when they went in to fight the villain, and Iggy gave his life trying to save Polnareff.

In the end, it was Vanilla Ice's vampirism that did him in, as Polnareff let in the sun. Iggy and Avdol's ghosts are seen cheering Polnareff on, despite his original failure and the subsequent calamity that occurred.

4 Kakyoin, Joseph, And Jotaro Finally Beat DIO For Good

Jotaro Stops Time For DIO In JoJos Bizarre Adventure

Fans had been waiting for three parts to see DIO finally beaten for good, and if anyone was able to do it, it was the stoic genius, Jotaro Kujo. Flanked by his friend, Noriaki Kakyoin, and his grandfather, Joseph Joestar, Jotaro took on DIO and his Stand, The World.

Unfortunately, Kakyoin died gaining the secret to defeating The World, and Jotaro, with this information, was able to beat DIO. Joseph almost died, but with a blood transfusion and a little help from Star Platinum, he made it out by the skin of his teeth.

3 Angelo's End Was Fitting And Worse Than Death

Angelo rock

Anjuro Katagiri, or Angelo, was one of the worst people to ever appear in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. He was the first antagonist of Diamond is Unbreakable, and he targeted Josuke Higashikata (Joseph's child out of wedlock) and his mother. He even killed Josuke's grandfather.

However, before the events of the show, Angelo had been a serial killer and culprit of many sexual assaults, making him one of the evilest characters. When Josuke remolds his body and traps him in a rock, fans are happy to see him suffer a fate worse than death.

2 Kira's End Was Also Satisfying

yoshikage kira kid

Yoshikage Kira was the main villain in Diamond is Unbreakable. Like Angelo, he was a serial killer who was obsessed with women's' hands. Thus, when he would kill someone, he'd take their hands and treat them like his girlfriend. Eventually, he gained the ire of Josuke and Jotaro, who resolved to end Kira.

While Kira and his Stand, Killer Queen, were formidable, they were not enough to stop Josuke, Jotaro, and their friends. In the end, Star Platinum beats Kira to a pulp, then Kira is run over by an ambulance and his soul is dragged into darkness. It was a strange end to a terrible person.

1 Diavolo Versus Giorno Was A Time Loop Mess

Diavolo experiencing GER - Golden Wind

The fight between Giorno Giovanna, a Stand user who traces his lineage back to both Jonathan Joestar and DIO, and Passione crime boss Diavolo was a fight for the ages. A fight between the convergence of Brando and Joestar lineage had no option but to be hyped.

Diavolo's Stand, King Crimson, was incredibly powerful for its strength, speed, and ability to erase time. However, thanks to evolving Gold Experience to Gold Experience Requiem, Giorno was able to beat Diavolo and trap him in a time loop of death.
