JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, a long-running series spanning many parts and has been in the production since 1987. The series creator, Hirohiko Araki, with having so many characters and plots to keep track of, like anyone, tends to forget details from time to time.

However, these bouts of forgetfulness can go from being inconsequential to downright contradictory. Some have been so bad that Araki himself had to make public apologies for them. Many fans have discovered such moments, coined lovingly as 'Araki Forgot' moments and it has then become a well-known meme within the JoJo community. Here are 10 such of moments forgetfulness and skewed continuity from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency, the mega franchise's second part.

10 Where Was Smokey?

At the beginning of the series, a young boy was always by Joseph's side and appeared to live with him and Erina, but what happened to him throughout the rest of the series? Smokey was present when Joseph fought Straizo but after that, he had no real involvement and one wonders why he was even introduced in the first place.

He did appear again towards the end and had a very positive, uplifting conclusion to his story, but fans wonder if Araki simply forgot about him or couldn't think of a way to incorporate him into the story once Joseph teamed up with Caesar and Lisa Lisa.

9 Straizo's Change Of Heart

Straizo, who made his initial appearance in Phantom Blood, was originally Jonathan and Erina Joestar's ally. He even took it upon himself to raise Lisa Lisa, the infant that Erina saves, training her in the ways of Hamon and also gives her the Red Stone of Aja. However, in Battle Tendency, it seems he has a sudden change of heart and is now a villain who wants to kill Joseph and bring an end to all Hamon users.

He had a certain resentment to Hamon since it didn't slow his aging enough, having a paranoid fear of aging. Straizo then turned to the Stone Mask, using its power to turn himself into a creature of the night like Dio. This sudden, drastic shift seemed a bit off-putting to fans when Straizo was one who helped the Joestar and Speedwagon families immensely.

8 How Hamon Works

When Will Zeppeli is first introduced, he shows Joseph the ways of Hamon. One moment that has been questioned by fans is when Will uses an attack on a frog on a rock, demonstrating that a skilled user can successfully control the Ripple to safely pass through the creature and break the stone in half. This is contradictory since later, Caesar tells Speedwagon that he did not try Hamon on the Pillar Men since they were made of stone and Hamon has no effect on stone.

Also, after Parts 1 and 2, Hamon was never used again, when it was originally a huge part of the series. Many argue that Joseph should have taught the Stand Users in Stardust Crusaders Hamon so they would be strong against Dio as well. This might have been something that Araki chose to forget due to how their powers would have been too powerful.

7 Wamuu's Shadow

Wamuu in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.

When Wamuu, one of the Pillar Men, awakens from his stone slumber, he proceeds to attack Kars when he carelessly steps in his shadow. This is to show his devout warrior lifestyle and how it is dishonorable to step on a shadow such as his.

However, this was never mentioned again and there is even a time when Joseph steps on Wamuu's shadow and he doesn't even acknowledge this supposed insult. It has been debated if this was a weakness or power that Wamuu possessed or if it was just a quirk of his. Whatever the case, Araki just didn't care to bring it up again.

6 Revealing Lisa Lisa's Identity

Anime Lisa Lisa JJBA

The whole way that Lisa Lisa was revealed to be Joseph's estranged mother as well as being the infant that Erina saved was very anticlimactic. This was big news and yet the origin story was pushed under the rug.

Some speculate that Araki didn't care to give that much of a backstory to Lisa Lisa since she would never show up in a JJBA again after the completion of Battle Tendency, but also he could have planned to kill her off. Up until this point, she was one of the strongest female lead characters, as most of the other portrayals of women, in general, were not flavorful. Aside from her, Jolyne Cujoh would be the next strongest, intimidating female lead.

5 Hamon Users Smoking

It has always seemed off that Lisa Lisa, being a Master of Hamon, is a smoker. Hamon is all about controlling one's respiration, so one would assume that users would be required to have a clean and efficient respiratory systems. Basically, smoking would literally kill a Hamon user. However, along with her, Joseph, Jonathan, and Caesar have all been seen smoking.

This was probably something that was merely overlooked by Araki, or he just didn't care and wanted her to look 'cooler.' Some fans also speculate that this was a way that Araki nerfed her incredible Hamon powers, as she would have been even more powerful if her lungs were at full capacity.

4 Dio's Coffin

Dio's coffin in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.

Dio's coffin makes appearances in both Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency and there are some major differences. In Phantom Blood, it appears to be more decorative, with an immense gold lock with other glittering gold accents throughout.  However, in Battle Tendency, the coffin appears larger, covered with way more barnacles, lacking some ornate etching details on the lock as well as a change in the font of the Dio nameplate.

This was supposed to be the same coffin, with each scene reenacting the exact moment in time when it is resurfaced. The dialogue between the sailors who retrieved it almost identically, so one can assume that Araki just forgot what it looked like.

3 Erina's Escape

After Jonathan and Dio's battle at the end of Phantom Blood, Erina is saved by taking refuge in Dio's coffin. However, how can this be when Dio himself used this exact same coffin to escape? Some speculate that there were two identical coffins hidden on the ship, while others think that the very coffin that Erina used had a hidden compartment where Dio was.

Also, Jonathan/Dio's body would have been in a deep sleep-like state due to the head slowly taking control over and healing it, so she would not have noticed any movement. But if that were the case, wouldn't the coffin been too heavy to float? Jonathan alone weighed a hefty 330 lbs, and then there's Erina's weight on top of that. This was either an Araki Forgot moment or a big plot hole.

2 Esidisi's Attacks

Esidisi from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency.

Esidisi's namesake is taken from the hard rock band AC/DC but its exact meaning is an abbreviation of 'alternating current/direct current' when it comes to electricity. Then why, in this case, were Esidisi's powers not electricity-based but fire-based? His full title is even 'Esidisi of the Flame.'

This seemed like a missed opportunity to make a connection to his namesake, as Araki had done often for other characters. A good example comes from Golden Wind, where the Stand Notorious B.I.G. is named after the infamous rapper and its ability 'Life After Death' - where the Stand activates upon its user's death - is taken from the rapper's album.

1 "Lungs Are Only Vital For Hamon Users!"

Loggins death JJBA

Loggins was one of Lisa Lisa's servants and also a Hamon Master himself. During a fight with the Pillar Men, he rushes in to help but he was quickly defeated. Esidisi kicked a gaping hole through his chest and when Joseph sees this, he exclaims that "Lungs are vital for Hamon users," which has become a meme within the JJBA community. This statement is rather odd since lungs are vital for, well, everyone.

Of course, Loggins dies due to his injuries and thus can no longer use Hamon. Go figure. Also Dire, another Hamon user, was seen as a severed head using Hamon on a rose. Again, he's just a head, so obviously he has no lungs. But it's okay; Araki Forgot just about lungs.
