Many main characters take the lead in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, with the entire Joestar family acting like a protagonist of sorts. First up was Jonathan Joestar, the noble and brave hero who faced Dio Brando and gave his life to save the world. By the 1980s, Jotaro Kujo had taken over as the main lead, and he went on to become the entire franchise's poster boy.

Jotaro Kujo is a powerful Stand user in Stardust Crusaders, and he is known for his stoic, serious personality and his sharp mind and sharper reflexes. He is a creative melee fighter, wielding Star Platinum and its steely knuckles to beat down all villains who get in his way. In terms of personality, abilities or even appearance, which ten other anime characters are a bit like Jotaro?

10 Captain Sajin Komamura (Bleach)

sajin komamura bleach

Captain Sajin Komamura has more in common with Jotaro Kujo than it may seem. Like Jotaro, Sajin has a serious personality that doesn't leave a lot of room for jokes or distractions. Instead, Sajin focuses on his duty, and he'll lay down his life for that duty if need be.

He's also a bit like a Stand user, since his bankai, Kokujo Tengen Myo'o, is a giant samurai figure with a sword that delivers slow but powerful blade attacks to crush its enemies. Sajin has a big body, big heart and indestructible will.

9 Escanor (The Seven Deadly Sins)

escanor sins

The mighty warrior Escanor may also remind viewers of anime characters like Major Alex Armstrong or All Might, but he has something in common with Jotaro, too. Escanor is a bit friendlier than Jotaro, but as a whole, he's rather unforgiving and stern, much like Jotaro. He won't allow any jokes at his expense.

In addition, Escanor is big, burly and confident like Jotaro, and he gets stronger as the sun rises higher in the sky. When it's time to fight, this prideful warrior will crush his enemies with either his bare fists or his heavy battle-ax, Rhitta.

8 Gajeel Redfox (Fairy Tail)

gajeel in Fairy Tail

Like Escanor and Sajin, Gajeel Redfox is a tough guy who isn't afraid of any foe, no matter how powerful or scary they may be. Gajeel is the Iron Dragon Slayer, meaning he can turn his skin into iron or steel, and conjure iron rods to strike his enemies from afar.

Gajeel's tough-guy attitude is backed up by his actions, and that makes him a lot like Jotaro Kujo. He's also a melee fighter, using his metallic fists to pummel enemies into pulp. He can still use ranged attacks if he must, though.

7 Olivier Armstrong (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)

olivier armstrong

A high-ranking officer of the Amestris military, Major-General Oliver Armstrong has long since decided that "might makes right" and "survival of the fittest" are the two essential rules for getting ahead in life. That's what keeps Fort Briggs so secure from its enemies.

Olivier's stern demeanor and strong will are a match for Jotaro at his meanest, and she doesn't suffer nonsense or fools for a single moment. And despite not being an alchemist, she is a great fighter, able to use her saber, firearms and agility to demolish her foes.

6 Naofumi Iwatani (The Rising Of The Shield Hero)

Rise of the Sheld Hero Naofumi Iwatani Cropped

Naofumi Iwatani, the shield hero, had a rough start to his isekai adventure. He was falsely accused of a horrible crime and exiled from the band of Cardinal Heroes, but that didn't stop him from forming a new party and facing down monsters with his many shields. He's as tough as the very shields he bears.

To survive, Naofumi soon learned to be practical, uncompromising and cautious, and he was a clever adventurer who made sure he accounted for the consequences of his actions (unlike the other Cardinal Heroes). He's definitely the type to say "good grief" like Jotaro does.

5 Lin Beifong (The Legend Of Korra)

Legend of Korra Book Three Lin Beifong

Lin Beifong acts like a tough police chief... because she actually is one. After Toph Beifong retired from the Republic City police force, Lin took over, and she used a steady hand, a stern demeanor and sharp instincts to keep a tight rein on the city's criminal activity rates.

At first, Lin seemed abrasive and cold, but she simply has a lot on her plate, and she has unresolved family drama that's weighing her down. But like Jotaro, she is a protector and a hero when the time is right, and she'll sacrifice anything and everything to look out for the people she cares about.

4 Thorfinn Karlsefni (Vinland Saga)

thorfinn vinland saga

Thorfinn Karlsefni is a Viking warrior whose journey went in fits and starts. He longed to be a great warrior, but then he became consumed by revenge, seeking to slay Askeladd, his father's killer. Thorfinn is bitter and stubborn, and he isn't too quick to make friends, either.

Still, Thorfinn is far from a villain, and he later cooled his head and learned some humility. Now he uses his fighting skills to try and restore peace in medieval Europe, and he has his eyes fixed on the ultimate prize: founding Vinland, a paradise across the Atlantic Ocean.

3 Mikasa Ackerman (Attack On Titan)

Mikasa attacks Levi

An elite member of the Scouts, Mikasa Ackerman is Eren Yeager's longtime friend and self-appointed protector. Eren isn't helpless, but he tends to get himself into trouble, and Mikasa will always rush to his defense as his loyal friend.

Mikasa is cool, tough and nearly unshakable, and only the threat of Eren's death will upset her. Otherwise, she's a hardened soldier who will confidently take on any threat and triumph, just like Jotaro would do. Neither of them gets intimidated easily.

2 Shota Aizawa/Eraserhead (My Hero Academia)

Eraserhead using quirk

Even if the pro hero known as Eraserhead has a very different fighting style than Jotaro Kujo, these two characters still have a lot in common. Like Jotaro, Eraserhead is a stern, cool-headed hero who brushes aside jokes and nonsense while focusing on how to defeat the enemy.

Eraserhead, like Jotaro, is gruff on the outside but cares deeply about his students on the inside, and he is eager to train his students and draw out their true potential. As a bonus, Eraserhead and Jotaro both dress in dark colors.

1 Neji Hyuga (Naruto)

neji hyuga

The gifted ninja known as Neji Hyuga was not a happy child. When his father died, he became stern and aloof, and he was also rather fatalistic about people's destiny and whether or not they can achieve greatness. Naruto later helped him become more of an optimist, though.

As a ninja, Neji was serious and focused, and he gave it his all to become one of the Hidden Leaf Village's finest shinobi. He is a melee master like Jotaro, and their personalities are rather similar as well. Most of all, Neji will risk his very life to protect the people dear to him, such as his cousin Hinata Hyuga.
