What sets JoJo's Bizarre Adventure apart from many other popular Shonen and Seinen titles is the fact that it has no single central character. Instead, there's a procession of heroes in the Joestar family, starting with Jonathan Joestar in the Victorian era, then his grandson, Joseph Joestar. Later generations include Jotaro Kujo, Josuke Higashikata, Giorno Giovanna, and Jolyne Cujoh.

Joseph Joestar is the hero of the anime's second arc, Battle Tendency, and he sets himself apart from Jonathan as a fun-loving, clever rogue in late 1930s Europe. Later, he's an older gentleman in Stardust Crusaders and the wielder of the stand Hermit Purple. A colorful anime like this is ripe for fun cosplay, and more than a few fans dressed up as the one and only Joseph Joestar! Let's meet them.

10 Still In Training

The first entry on this list introduces Joseph Joestar in a humble context: while he's learning the ways of Hamon (ripple) under Lisa Lisa. Halfway through Battle Tendency, Joseph realized that his Hamon isn't going to cut it against the Pillar Men, so it's time to train.

This cosplayer did a great job recreating the mask that Joseph wore during that training, and that, combined with the dark eyebrows, authentic wig and cool pose, really bring a young Joseph Joestar to life.

9 Touring The World

The second cosplayer in this gallery has brought a young Joseph Joestar to life in spectacular fashion. Like the earlier cosplayer, they have a light brown wig that emulates Joseph's wild hair, and their practical, cool clothing is just right for the character.

Best of all is that motorcycle. Early in Battle Tendency, Joseph showed viewers his affinity for motorcycles, and this "I'm about to take a trip" cosplay shot echoes how Joseph goes all over the world during his truly bizarre adventure.

8 Grandpa's Nemesis

Now this is a creative twist on a young Joseph Joestar. What is going on here? It's true that Joseph faced DIO late in Stardust Crusaders, but he was a tough old man with a stand during that 1987 battle. Can his younger self handle this foe?

Not quite. The cosplayer is true to Joseph's character, and chose to flee in terror rather than face the vampire overlord. Joseph is no coward, but he knows a losing battle when he sees one, and he'd rather wait until he gets Hermit Purple before facing DIO once again.

7 Trifecta Of Evil

Young Joseph Joestar returns once again, and the cosplayer chose Joseph's standard Battle Tendency outfit for this shot, from those cool jeans and belt to his half-length green shirt and fingerless gloves. And the Hamon mask, too.

DIO may lay in the future, but the Pillar Men are a menace here and now. These three gender-bend Pillar Men (now Pillar Women) are scary and cool, and Joseph is freaking out a little. Who can blame him? Kars, Esidisi, and Wamuu are tough as nails.

6 Metal Man

Not unlike Luke Skywalker, Joseph Joestar lost a hand to his enemies, then got a prosthetic replacement and kept it hidden under a glove. Joseph does a few pranks with his metal hand in Stardust Crusaders, but it also comes in handy sometimes.

Meanwhile, this cosplayer has it all: the right clothes, a prop Hermit Purple (complete with thorns), a highly detailed and convincing metal hand, and the character's gray beard and hair. He's ready for a trip to Egypt.

5 Battle Twins

Caesar Zeppeli and Joseph aren't really twins, but they share a talent for Hamon and they both love to strike cool poses before the fighting starts. Both of them trained under Lisa Lisa, and now the Pillar Men are going to pay the price.

Caesar is looking good in a blue and white outfit, and this charming gender-bend Joseph Joestar is a real scene-stealer, from her high-heeled boots to her fancy Hamon scarf to the gloves, face mask, and wig.

4 Invitation

One of the funniest scenes in all of JoJo was when Joseph Joestar tried to sneak his way into a Nazi compound, all dressed up as a Mexican woman! He tried to lay on the charm, complete with a drink, but the guards weren't too impressed.

This cosplayer showcases an alternate-universe Joseph who really can pull it off... owing to being a lady! She has soft purple eyeshadow, vivid lipstick, and some white flowers to bring on the charm, and she didn't forget the tequila, either.

3 Meet My Stand

In Stardust Crusaders, the entire franchise got a soft reboot when stands became the central focus of the combat system, and Hamon was regulated to the past. Joseph Joestar got one too: Hermit Purple, which can take photographs of just about anything.

This cosplayer is an exemplary old Joseph Joestar, from the coat and the cool hat and beard to the face paint and makeup used to emulate the manga's distinctive art style. Some digital effects, like a glowing Hermit Purple and photographs, help round out this scene nicely.

2 See You Later

The second to last entry in this gallery brings back a young Joseph Joestar, and he's looking good. He's got his Hamon scarf and Caesar's headband with him, suggesting that this scene takes place at the end of Battle Tendency.

Joseph is striking a cool pose as he heads off to battle, to reassure the viewer that everything is going to be all right. And like the previous cosplayer, he used some face paint effects to emulate the source manga.

1 Still In The Fight

To round out this list, a Joseph cosplayer arrives with Diamond is Unbreakable in mind. By now, Joseph is in his late 70s, and he's not so spry anymore. Still, he knows how to use a stand, and his clever mind is still intact.

This touching cosplay brings father and son together, and the Joseph cosplayer looks great with everyday clothes and a cane to emulate the character. Josuke is looking good too, and the time has finally come for one generation to pass the baton to the next.
