Many heroes define the Joestar family in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. While Jonathan Joestar was a standard shonen protagonist in the Phantom Blood story arc, later Joestar heroes branched out and carved out their own unique identities. That includes Josuke Higashikata, a totally different kind of protagonist than Jonathan was.

While Jonathan was a classic gentleman and gung-ho hero, Josuke is a lot more like his father, Joseph Joestar, a wily, creative, and snarky hero who still had a good heart. And unlike Jonathan, Josuke has a Stand of his own, Crazy Diamond. In terms of combat, personality, everyday life, and more, what are Josuke's major strengths, and what might his weaknesses be? Every hero has to have a few.

10 Strength: Street Smarts

Josuke lives in the town of Morioh is 1999, and he knows that place like the back of his hand. Some heroes are down to earth, while others have lived rather sheltered lives before beginning the adventure. Josuke has no problems navigating the streets of Morioh at all.

He can stand up to bullies and street thugs with ease, and he knows how to intimidate his enemies or gauge whether or not someone is about to pick a fight, which are important street-smart skills to have. Josuke makes the most of them.

9 Weakness: No Default Ranged Attack

Shining Diamond

This is Crazy Diamond, one of the more powerful Stands of the Diamond is Unbreakable story arc. It is a punch-oriented stand like Star Platinum is, but it does not have a built-in ranged attack for engaging distant enemies.

This means that a sniper or tricky opponent can keep their distance from Josuke, wear him down with ranged attacks, and use the terrain to their advantage. Josuke will have to get creative if he wants to return fire and win the battle.

8 Strength: Recalling Objects

On the plus side, Josuke can find ways to move objects through the air and create improvised projectiles. This isn't always easy, but if Josuke can find the right materials and the right angle, he can create ranged attacks after all.

If something gets a piece broken off, then Josuke can use Crazy Diamond's repairability and recall the broken piece to the original object, and that loose piece can move pretty fast. If Josuke lines it up just right, he can hit an opponent with it.

7 Weakness: Distracted By Hair Insults

Josuke is immensely proud of his distinctive hairstyle, and he works hard to keep it in good shape. He'll be happy to get compliments on it, but if someone makes fun of his hair or puts it down, Josuke's wrath will be aroused at once.

Josuke has a real attitude, and he can easily get distracted or sidetracked by someone who makes fun of his hair. A wily opponent might learn this fact, then use it against him, and take Josuke's eyes off his real objective.

6 Strength: Healing People

Josuke's Stand can repair objects of all kinds, from tires to motorcycles to glassware, but it can also repair the human body. Josuke can't exactly bring back the dead, but if someone is injured and reasonably stable, then Crazy Diamond can heal their body with a strike.

In fact, Crazy Diamond can punch clean through someone, then "repair" them just as quickly, before the person even realizes what's happening. Josuke once did this to his mother, Tomoko Higashikata. She had no inkling that Crazy Diamond had done anything.

5 Weakness: Can't Heal Himself

While Crazy Diamond's body-repair effect is an excellent one to have, Josuke can't include himself in his list of patients. Crazy Diamond won't heal his body, meaning he has to be careful in combat. He can only take so much damage.

This is in total contrast with the next hero, Giorno Giovanna, who can heal himself with his own Stand, Gold Experience. He can turn nonliving objects into the missing flesh and put it in place. An ability Josuke would love to have.

4 Strength: Punching Power

Josuke's Stand is a melee type, and that puts it in a similar league as Star Platinum, and in more than one way. In fact, when Jotaro Kujo visited Morioh Town and had a brief duel with Josuke, he was shocked to realize that Josuke's Stand was an even match for his own.

That's saying a lot, considering Star Platinum's incredible hitting power. And like Jotaro before him, Josuke often used that incredible punching power to deliver a beatdown on a scheming, scummy villain who 100% deserved it.

3 Weakness: Dishonesty

Honesty is a major virtue, and alas, Josuke does not always embody it. He's not a total schemer or villain like the D'Arby brothers or (even worse) Dio but is a little dishonest at times, and it can tarnish his image as a hero.

The biggest example was when he used an alien shapeshifter to create loaded dice to cheat Rohan Kishibe out of all his money in a chance game. Before that, Josuke and his friend Okuyasu tried to collect hundreds of coupons with the Stand Harvest and get a huge cash prize. But it didn't work.

2 Strength: Fighter's Spirit

Sometimes, Josuke's hot temper can be turned against him, such as when people make fun of his hair. But for the most part, Josuke has the grit and nerves of a true fighter, which can really help him take on villains like Yoshikage Kira.

Josuke is always ready for a fight, making it difficult to demoralize him or catch him off-guard. A street-wise, tough kid like him is in his element when villainous Stand users challenge him, which nearly always works in his favor.

1 Weakness: Rough Attitude With People

Josuke isn't always acting like a villain or a thug, but still, his punkish attitude might get him into trouble sometimes or just make a situation more difficult than it has to be. Josuke often makes a mildly negative impression on others, such as Rohan, and these people might not be too inclined to trust him or help him.

Josuke made friends with Okuyasu because they're similar to each other, but with the way Josuke treats Okuyasu and Koichi sometimes, he'd be lucky to make many friends or allies beyond that. He ought to sharpen up those people skills.
