The highly popular manga series Jojo's Bizzare Adventure stands out for many reasons, one particular reason is its outrageous and stylish character design.  One particularly interesting aspect of Jojo's character designs is how they reflect Hiroyuki Araki's constantly evolving art style. Theses changes can particularly be seen with each part's main character, often refer to Jojo due to all of their name being possible to abbreviate as Jojo.

This article will examine Jojo's ever-evolving art style by ranking every Jojo by how stylish their looks are. For the sake of consistency, this article will be base on their looks within the series themselves, as counting cover-only outfit made later in Araki's career would make this ranking more difficult.

8 Johnathan Joestar

Jonathan Joestar gets ready to fight in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood

Johnathan Joestar's placement at the bottom of the list reflects Phantom Blood's very apparent visual influence from Fist of the North Star.  This means character design from this series tends to be more muscular,  grounded, and realistic compared to later parts.  The main exception being Dio as a vampire and William Zeppeli's hat.

Johnathan Joestar's is the most grounded and less stylish Jojo with him most often being seen in either his gentlemanly suit or his combat outfit. While Johnathan often wears clothing that reflects his status as a gentleman in Victorian England, they clash a bit with his highly muscular physique. His combat outfit looks very much like a serial number filed off version of Kenshiro's outfit with the only differences' being that the shirt is close and Johnathan has pauldron on both shoulders.

7 Josuke Higashikata (JoJolion version)

While the most recent Jojo part features the same overtop stylishness seen in Vento Aureo and Stone Ocean, unlike the other two parts, Jojolion's main character Josuke Higashikata does not enjoy this stylishness. With his primary wardrobe being a sailor suit that wouldn't look out of place in a work set in an early to the mid-20th-century setting, it clashes with the part's setting of modern-day Japan.

While some element of Josuke's style works thematically like his shirt appearing to be too small reflecting the fact that he's the result of a force fusion of two people into a single body. His clothing's additional accessories like a sun medal and small anchor do not improve Josuke's style. His style also suffers from the reverse of many Jojo character designs' problem of the character having too many muscules for their look to look stylish, in that his lanky appearance takes away any style from his appearance.

6 Jotaro Kujo

While the most iconic of Jojo's appearance, Jotaro's design is rather simple with it being a Japanese high school uniform with some very Jojo style alterations. For one there is a massive golden chain attached to his coat's left shoulder and the outfit sports two separate green and yellow belts. Jotaro also sports a hat with some cool looking accessories pinned to it and the hat somehow melds with his hair. The only reason Jotaro is not as high on the list is that his style clashes with his initially muscular appearance.

While Jotaro's appearance in later part deals with his over the top muscles, his clothing does retain the coolness of his first outfit. His Diamond is Unbreakable suffers from a less stylish color scheme and more reserve take on his Stardust's Crusader shirt and jacket combo. His Stone Ocean design would of moving him higher on the list, if not for his garnish looking golden pants and a green star placed strangely on his hat.

5 Giorno Giovanna

Despite the series claiming that gangsters prefer to not draw attention with their appearance, the members of Passione are some of the strangest appearing characters in the entire series.  The weird design tendencies of this part can be summed out by the design of Giorno Giovanna. On the surface, Giorno's design is a rather simple waistcoat and pants combo. The details are however where the weirdness of the part's designs are most apparent.

For one, Giorno's waistcoat has a huge heart shape hole at its center giving Giorno a cleavage window. His shoes are also very pointy with them having a beetle-shaped zipper. He also has two beetle-shaped buttons that are placed symmetrically on Giorno's waistcoat. This design is so strange that it's hard to consider it truly stylish. This is not helped by the anime's gave the outfit a garnish pink color.

4 Johnny Joestar

Johnny Joestar from the JoJo's fighting game.

Consider to be the zenith of Jojo series as a whole, Steel Ball Run might have one of the strongest and unique characters design overall. These design's strength is its combination of the wonderful weirdness of the previous two parts with the wild west. This successful design fusion can be seen in the design of its main character Johnny Joestar.

Unlike his alternate timeline counterpart, Johnathan, Johnny's fashion sense is far from the grounded. His design sports a hoodie like a shirt and not described pants. He also wears a bandana with a horseshoe medal on the front. all of these elements are then cover with a bunch of purple stars. Its a credit to Araki's art style that this design looks more stylish than a garnish. Its only main problem is that the outfit's coloring doesn't work that well.

3 Joseph Joestar

Battle Tendency is the point where Jojo starts to develop its distinctive visual style. This can be seen with the stylish looks of its main character Joesph Joestar. His initial appearance might his most stylish, yet simple with it rough and tumble shirts and pants combine with a cool looking pilot jack. His post-Hamon training outfit is also stylish with its midriff-baring crop top and distinctive green and yellow scarf.

Even in his later years, Joesph is still one of the more stylish Jojos. His Stardust Crusader design is both a stylish and simple design that fits well with the Egyptian and world-traveling vibe of this part. His Diamond is Unbreakable design that follows suit with it featuring a great hat and burgundy trenchcoat combo.

2 Jolyne Cujoh

The only female Jojo protagonist so far sports a distinctive and cool design. Given that Jolyne is from Stone Ocean, her style is not something that you see someone wearing in real life. Jolyne's style would however not look out place in an X-men comic or being worn by a modern-day female singer. Also, her style goes beyond her clothing with her partial green-dyed hair and lipstick contrasting nicely with natural black hair.

Outfit-wise Jolyene usually wears a crop-top pants combo with a larger spider-web design on them. The crop-top in particular has cuts toward its bottom to make look more web-like in design. The outfit also sports a nice dark-blue white coloration that works very well together. Overall the design is very stylish with it having a great goth meet delinquent feel to it that works well the feel of Stone Ocean.

1 Josuke Higashikata

Diamond is Unbreakable is a major transition point for Jojo's Bizzare Adventure with the battle moving in a more cerebral direction thanks to more out of the box Stand powers and Araki's artwork adopting its more unique modern design. This major change in the series art style and feel is best to represent by Josuke's stylish looks.

Despite his looks being mocked in-universe, Josuke's style has a nice retro feel to it. Josuke's style is a modified high school uniform with an over the top pompadour that gives him a nice 1970s Japanese delinquent vibe to it. Kosuke's stylishness is helped by him wearing a small heart and peace symbol medal on his jacket. Josuke is also so stylish that it's a mentioned aspect of his personality with it being mentioned that he spends a lot of time and money to look the way that he does.
