The sheer manner in which JoJo's Bizarre Adventure has completely taken over the anime world is simply inexplicable. The show did have its roots firmly set in Japanese pop culture, but it's only with the release of the anime — something that was very much overdue — that the West finally realized why JoJo's Bizarre Adventure has become one of the biggest cultural icons in manga history.

Each generation of JoJo has eclipsed its predecessor in quality, with the development of Araki's writing very much palpable with each entry. While people might argue that Diamond Is Unbreakable is Araki's magnum opus, a sizeable portion will fight tooth-and-nail in stating that Golden Wind is still carrying this tradition forward of increasing quality with each successive generation.

Golden Wind definitely does have a broad swath of memorable characters that have become fan favorites in their own right. One of the most memorable characters in this regard is Bruno Bucciarati, an Italian mobster with a heart of gold... or at least, that's what fans want everyone to believe. The fact of the matter is that Bruno has done some particularly brutal and selfish acts that fans have conveniently forgotten about. Here are 10 such egregious acts committed by the leader of Team Bucciarati.

10 Almost Killing Giorno Giovanna

The introduction of Bruno is meant to make us hate this character from the get-go. The unnerving manner in which he licks Giorno's sweat to detect his lies and tries to kill the titular character is quite... unnerving, to say the least. However, as things progress, it becomes apparent that Bruno is a nice guy. This is because Bruno hesitates after seeing the arm of a teenager that has been almost destroyed with drugs.

It was clear to Giorno at this point that Bruno and his goals did align, to an extent.

9 Abandoning His Mother After His Parents Divorced

Divorces are quite traumatic for children and parents alike. Bruno's childhood was permanently marred by this event after learning that his mother and father had chosen to separate.

After being asked who he would prefer to live with, Bruno decided to stay with his father and abandoned his mother to live life alone in the big city. While the underlying reason was that Bruno did not want his father to live alone on the coast, one must wonder why he chose to ignore his mother outright regardless.

8 Brutally Murdering The Gangsters Who Tried To Kill His Father

At one point during his life on the coast, Bruno's dad encountered a bunch of gangsters in the middle of a drug trade. This led to him getting shot seven times, but he still somehow managed to survive this encounter. While resting at the hospital, two gangsters came to kill Bruno's father once and for all. However, they didn't realize that Bruno was hiding in the room. The 12-year-old proceeded to brutally murder the two assailants with a knife.

Protecting your dad is one thing, but being murderous is a different thing altogether.

7 Allowing His Team To Torture Mario Zucchero

Mario jojo

Mario Zucchero was a member of Passione who decided to ambush Team Bucciarati on their way to hunt for Polpo's treasure. After thwarting his attempt to destroy the group, Bruno was faced with the task of interrogating Mario for information pertaining to more assailants that might stand in their way.

Bucciarati attained this information in the most violent way possible, allowing his teammates to beat Mario to a pulp before he finally spilled the goods.

6 Getting Prosciutto Run Over By A Train

During their mission to escort Trish, Bucciarati and his gang are assaulted on a train by Prosciutto and Pesci — two members of the Squadra Esecuzioni. The former's stand, "The Grateful Dead," is especially harmful, causing everyone with high body temperatures to age at a rapid pace.

To take care of this seemingly insurmountable threat, Bruno decides to channel his inner psycho and throws Prosciutto under the train tracks. The end result is absolutely gruesome... but that's not even nearly the worst thing Bruno did during this encounter.

5 Dismembering Pesci And Throwing His Pieces In The River

Pesci from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Golden Wind

During the entire encounter with the gangsters, Pesci is shown to be rather meek and unintimidating, in comparison to his brother. However, witnessing his brother's dedication to still keep The Grateful Dead's stand ability active even after getting run over by a train makes him switch his attitude and bring his A-game against Bucciarati.

The resulting fight is quite gruesome, ending with Bruno punching Pesci to the point where he's ripped apart into immobile masses of flesh. However, this isn't enough to satiate Bucciarati, who goes the extra mile and throws these pieces into the river.

4 Letting Trish Get Abducted

Out of all the horrible things Bucciarati has done, letting Trish get abducted from right under his nose was perhaps the worst thing to ever happen.

While this negligence did stem from the fact that Diavolo's Stand Power was immense and unpredictable, it still doesn't explain away Bruno's lackadaisical attitude when it came to a person he should've looked out for without fail.

3 Abandoning Fugo

Team Bucciarati's Fugo yelling at screen.

After realizing that Fugo would not join Bucciarati's quest against the boss, a good friend — and a great leader — would've gone out of his way to either convince his subordinate to walk the path of reasons or, at the very least, ensure that no harm befalls Fugo.

Instead, Bucciarati and his gang decide to simply ignore Fugo and abandon him at the steps of the very building where Diavolo had launched his attack! If that isn't cold, we don't know what is.

2 Proceeding To Work For Passione Even After Learning About The Drug Trade

Bruno Bucciarati discovers that Passione deals drugs in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind

For someone who was passionately against drugs destroying the sanctity of Naples and its youth, witnessing drugs in the possession of the people you work for should be an absolute dealbreaker. Yet, Bucciarati consciously chose to work with Passione even after this fact came to light.

He didn't even need to work with the gang after his father's death, and yet he chose to remain passive after uncovering something that was supposed to be totally against his moral code.

1 Giving Everyone False Hope After His "Death"

After Bucciarati became an Undead, he should've ideally told his gang members the whole truth instead of making them cling to a lie.

While everything did work out eventually in the end, the fact that he wasn't able to trust the people closest to him was quite despicable, especially given the fact that they uprooted their lives for him and his cause.
