Part Five of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Golden Wind, wrapped up last year. The story detailed the plot of Giorno, the son of Dio, and his attempt to overtake the Passione Mafia. Like the previous parts in the series, the anime contained chess move action, interesting characters, and some of the most meme-worthy moments only a series like JoJo could provide.

It's little wonder that fans are clamoring for any news on an official anime adaptation of the next story: Stone Ocean. Part Six is one of the wildest and most interesting stories Hirohiko Araki has written and drawn. But what exactly is Stone Ocean all about? And what do fans need to know about prison, the daughter of Jotaro Kujo, and a possible conclusion to the first major JoJo timeline?

10 An Official Announcement

Fans are rabidly clamoring for more of the JoJo anime and many are expecting a Stone Ocean anime adaptation. However, there hasn't been an official announcement just yet stating that the next project is Stone Ocean. What is apparent, however, is something is on the horizon.

It was announced that the next major JoJo project will make waves in April of 2021. Fans just hope those waves are coming from the Stone Ocean series. What is known, thanks to leaks, is that there is a project that will involve voice actors from the previous stories portrayed in the anime and that the title of the event is "Joestar The Inherited Soul."

9 Back In The USA

Jolyne and Stone Free from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean (manga).

The JoJo series has traveled the world so often that it should already be using frequent flyer miles, although everyone is presumably flying for free thanks to the Speedwagon Foundation. The series can mark off Japan, the United States, Italy, and the deserts of Egypt off its checklist.

Yet in Stone Ocean, the series returns to the U.S., a place JoJo hasn't been set in since the young adventures of Joseph Joestar in Battle Tendency. Specifically, the series trades in the city of New York for Florida. While the series might take place in the land of the free, its setting is anything but autonomous.

8 Green Dolphin Street Prison

The first part of Stone Ocean takes place in Green Dolphin Street Prison. It's a maximum-security prison nicknamed "The Aquarium" due to it being built offshore on an island on Port St. Lucie, Florida. It brings to mind Alcatraz.

While it's Alcatraz vibes make it unique, there's also another factor that sets it apart: Stand Users. The jail seems to host a multitude of heroes and villains who have Stands. The protagonist for Stone Ocean, Jolyne Cujoh, is no different.

7 Jolyne Cujoh

Sharing the namesake of the legendary Dolly Parton hit, Jolyne Cujoh is the protagonist of Stone Ocean and the daughter of an unnamed American woman and Stardust Crusaders' Jotaro Kujo. Jolyne is framed for murder and winds up in the Green Dolphin Street Prison. However, things change when Jolyne pricks her finger on a piece of the magical bow Dio used to give Stand Powers to other characters.

Jolyne is every bit a "JoJo," sharing her lineage's propensity for high intelligence, tough fighting prowess, snappy quips, and of course fashionable designs. Jolyne can be violent and vindictive when prompted. Also, her Stand is as unique as it is powerful.

6 Stone Free

Based on the rockin' Jimi Hendrix tune, Stone Free is the Stand of Jolyne. She names it Stone Free because she wants to be free from the "Stone Ocean" that is Dolphin Street Prison. It's close-range Stand usually decked out in cyan, similar in body to Jolyne and its head adorned with sunglasses.

The Stand's pummeling power and speed are comparable to Jotaro's Star Platinum, but Stone Free's extra string ability allows it to really shine. Jolyne can unravel her body into string, granting her numerous abilities from slicing enemies to eavesdropping by picking up sound vibrations. It proves its flexible nature countless times in the story.

5 Jotaro Returns

Jotaro makes yet another return in the series. Having served as the main character in Stardust Crusaders, Jotaro is probably JoJo's most recognizable poster boy. His role in Stone Ocean is more of a side character like in Diamond Is Unbreakable.

In fact, there's a point in Stone Ocean when Jotaro is sidelined while trying to save his daughter, and it's up to Jolyne to come in and save his life. Although Stone Ocean expands more on the Joestar family, the relationship between father and daughter isn't exactly the best at the beginning of the story.

4 Jolyne & Jotaro's Rocky Relationship

While fans might be excited at the prospect of Jotaro having a daughter with Stand abilities and teaming up with her, in the eyes of Jolyne, he isn't exactly father of the year. The first encounter between the two in the manga is tense, to say the least, and with good reason.

Jotaro was largely absent during Jolyne's childhood, which she resents him for. In fact, Jolyne spent her teenage years being a bit of a delinquent in hopes of catching her dad's attention. Stone Ocean not only forces the two to team up but also work on their familial issues.

3 Dio's Follower Enrico

For an anime villain, Dio sure does know how to torment a family for generations. Then again, this is the same vampire that literally took over the body of his adversary. Dio was killed off in Stardust Crusaders during an epic showdown with Jotaro.

Unfortunately, despite his death, Dio is still indirectly causing trouble via one of his loyal followers. The main antagonist of Stone Ocean is Enrico Pucci. Pucci's motivation is to implement Dio's plan of achieving heaven while also being a major threat to Jolyne, her father Jotaro, and their comrades. Even in death, leave it to Dio to still cause problems for the Joestar family.

2 The Story Gets Wild

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is beloved for a multitude of reasons, especially because of how wild the plot and battles can get. Luckily, Stone Ocean is no different from the other parts, and in some cases manages to crank the dial way past 11.

If David Productions animates Stone Ocean, there's a buffet of scenes from the manga to bring to life. For instance, there's a Stand controlling colony of plankton, someone setting themselves on fire, a prison breakout, Stand thievery, and alternate dimensions. There's definitely no need to worry about any lack of the  "bizarre" or just plain awesome in Stone Ocean.

1 Last Of The Current JoJo Timeline

JoJo - Cujoh Mugshot

Fans have had multiple animated series to get to know the generational adventures of the Joestar family. In the manga, Stone Ocean serves as a stopping point for this particular timeline, as author Araki reboots the universe with Steel Ball Run, and Jojolion, the two parts that follow Stone Ocean.

Steel Ball Run and Jojolion technically have a lot of the same characters from the previous story parts, but they are vastly different compared to their counterparts. It might be head-scratching for fans who haven't consumed the manga yet, but without Stone Ocean, there probably would be no Steel Ball Run or Jojolion.
