Despite his appearance, Jotaro is very smart. He has outmaneuvered many opponents and it's not always due to his stand. In a battle, Jotaro is very calculating and he is always prepared for the worst. Here are five anime characters who can outsmart Jotaro and five who can't.

10 CAN: YAGAMI LIGHT (DEATH NOTE)

Light Yagami From Death Note

Yagami Light is the main character of Death Note. He started to use the name "Kira" once he got his hands on the Death Note. Light had to fight against L, Near, and Mello throughout the series. He was able to handle all of them for the most part.

Yagami Light's wit is on a completely different level to most other anime characters. As he managed to outsmart several geniuses, it would not be difficult for Light to get rid of Jotaro.

9 CAN'T: NARUTO UZUMAKI (NARUTO)

Naruto Uzumaki in his Hokage uniform in Naruto.

Naruto is the most popular knucklehead ninja in the anime world. While not an idiot, Naruto was in no way the brightest student at the Hidden Leag Village's Academy.

While Naruto had a knack for improvisation during a fight, the ninja was not great at planning ahead, and ad-libbing all the time is not a good idea. Jotaro plans things much more carefully than Naruto and there is no real competition between the two when it comes to wit.

8 CAN: VEGAPUNK (ONE PIECE)

Dr. Vegapunk in One Piece.

Vegapunk is the genius scientist from One Piece. His skill attracted the attention of the World Government when he was still a young boy. Vegapunk's inventions proved that he was light years ahead of his competition.

Vegapunk created the Pacifista and he managed to create an artificial devil fruit. For a man of such high intelligence, it shouldn't be too difficult for Vegapunk to outsmart Jotaro.

7 CAN'T: MONKEY D. LUFFY (ONE PIECE)

Luffy is the main protagonist of One Piece. He has a great mind for combat that has allowed him to defeat many powerful opponents. However, when it comes to outsmarting someone, Luffy has a very hard time.

Luffy is a knucklehead who likes to charge recklessly without thinking about the consequences. Luffy is short-tempered and he would fall into any trap Jotaro might set for him; if Luffy manages to come into the range of Star Platinum, he would be dealt with very swiftly.

6 CAN: SHIKAKU NARA (NARUTO)

Shikaku Nara

Shikaku was the father of Shikamaru Nara and he was a true genius. In fact, Shikaku was able to outsmart his son, who had an IQ of 200 but was never able to beat his father in a game of shogi.

Due to his intelligence, Shikaku was chosen as the main strategist of the Allied Shinobi Forces. Shikaku's intelligence allowed them to fight against the reanimated ninjas and the Ten-Tails; therefore, he could easily outsmart Jotaro in a fight.

5 CAN'T: Midoriya Izuku (MY HERO ACADEMIA)

The next character on the list is Midoriya Izuku. In My Hero Academia, Midoriya has climbed the stairs to success slowly and will keep on improving as the series goes on.

Midoriya is unique as a shonen protagonist as he has got an intelligent head on his shoulders, and often uses his analytical skills to collect data on the quirks of his opponents. Midoriya's control over his quirk is still not as good as he would like it to be, however, he's still got time. While he could eventually be able to outsmart Jotaro, Midoriya has yet to reach that point.

4 CAN: LELOUCH VI BRITANNIA (CODE GEASS)

Lelouch is the main character of Code Geass. Lelouch is very shrewd and proves to be a genius throughout the series. In a battle of wits, not many can outsmart him.

Along with being able to think many steps ahead, Lelouch is also capable of improvising if the need arises. A prime example of this is when Lelouch thought of a cunning plan while fighting against his father. Furthermore, Jotaro won't stand a chance against Lelouch because of Lelouch's Geass which gives him a great advantage.

3 CAN'T: GUTS (BERSERK)

Guts is the main protagonist of Berserk and is also known as the Black Swordsman. Guts has fought countless apostles and the tales of his heroics are spread far and wide.

Guts is a strong character who possesses great physical strength and endurance, however, he doesn't rely that much on tactics and it is something Jotaro can easily take advantage of. Jotaro can also surprise the unsuspecting Guts with his ability to stop time.

2 CAN: JOSEPH JOESTAR (JOJO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURE)

Next up on the list is Joseph Joestar from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency. Although he isn't all that powerful, Joseph is a very intelligent person. While he can use Hamon and also has a stand. Joseph relies on his brain to defeat most of his opponents.

Joseph was able to defeat Kars, who created the mask that gave DIO his powers. Joseph almost managed to defeat Kars single-handedly, a being who had an IQ of over 400. Joseph's skill to adapt and improvise to any situation is on a whole other level. Needless to say, Joseph would get the better of his grandson on this occasion.

1 CAN'T: SAKATA GINTOKI (GINTAMA)

Gintoki from Gintama smiling and waving.

Sakata Gintoki is the main protagonist of Gintama. He made a name for himself while fighting against enemy forces, earning the nickname "White Yaksha." Gintoki is a very relaxed individual and rarely gets worked up.

There's no doubt that Gintoki is a fierce fighter, but he is not particularly smart. Gintoki relies on his strength to get out of tough situations. On the other hand, Jotaro is much prudent in battles and he carefully analyses his opponents before fighting them.
