The diverse world of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure presents a wide variety of unique stands, each with an ability completely special to them. They range from straightforward warriors such as Star Platinum to guns, towers, and even ships.

However, many Stands aren't as pleasant to look at, nor conventional to fight against. Some have abilities almost too horrifying for comprehension, either grotesquely mutilating those who oppose them or inflicting implacable psychological dread. To acknowledge these appallingly monstrous Stands, we rank them based on the fear they are able to inflict and the sinister skills at their disposal.

10 Ebony Devil

Ebony Devil attacks Polnareff in his hotel room - JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders

Ebony Devil may not seem like a significant threat, but its innocuous appearance belies its wicked intent. When Polnareff was settling into his hotel room, he was unprepared for it to lash out at him while he was retrieving his keys from underneath a bed.

What ensued was a harrowing series of attacks, with Silver Chariot unable to strike his opponent since he could not see him. Though Jean Pierre would ultimately succeed against the doll, it was not without severe lacerations across his entire body.

9 Little Feet

Little feet jojo stand

Little Feet was able to shrink down his opponent, gradually whittling them away until they were the size of roaches. This ability was used against Narancia, and he was almost squashed into a bloody stain on the pavement as a result.

It is especially scary since the effects of the Stand are not immediately evident to its victim. All they can comprehend is that the world around them is progressively getting larger – by the time they've realized the cause for the change, they are already considerably diminished in offense, defense, and stature.

8 Purple Haze

Purple haze disease stand

Purple Haze is able to secrete a concentrated disease in its immediate vicinity which causes its foes' limbs to become mottled and grotesque. It is such a daunting talent that the slightest exposure can turn the tide of a fight.

This was particularly useful against Illuso, as the slightest whiff was able to send him reeling and preserve the lives of his friends, and the Boss's daughter. Though Purple Haze is a safety hazard to its allies, it is nonetheless an incredibly cowing ultimate weapon when Bucciarati's team have no better alternatives at their disposal.

7 Cream

Vanilla Ice

Vanilla Ice's "Cream" Stand allows him to become an amorphous monster, one which is able to obliterate everything in his path. Though he prefers to peek his head out so that he can guide his attacks, he can also submerge himself within his own Stand for a rampage of blind destruction.

Using this nefarious ability, he was able to slay Avdol and Iggy, even crippling Polnareff. As a result, Vanilla Ice accrued a higher body count in Stardust Crusaders than DIO himself and remains arguably his most invaluable henchman (aside from Enyaba's works with the Stand Arrow).

6 Deadly Queen

Killer Queen in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

Deadly Queen is the Stand of Yoshikage Kira and his most efficient tool when murdering his victims by the score. It is able to explode anything it touches, forcing Josuke to reconsider whether or not he should save the life of his closest friend and putting him through severe psychological stress.

However, the Queen's melee abilities are only its second most terrifying utility. It can also deploy a small tank from its hand known as "Heart Attack," an indestructible force of nature that pursues heat signatures and explodes into them until their lives have been extinguished.

5 Ratt

ratt stand JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

Ratt may not be an excellent combative fighter, but the result of its work is perhaps the most disturbing product of any Stand in the series. A single shot of its bullet can begin the enemy's transition into a putrid, viscous sludge, their muscle falling from their bodies in clumps.

After its target is subdued, Bug-Eaten will approach his new prize and sculpt it into a cube of flesh for later consumption. The Stand's effect may mutate its target, but it does not kill it outright. Many of its victims wish it had.

4 Sethan

Sethan stand jojo

Sethan is Alessi's Stand, able to reverse the aging of whoever is caught its shadow. Though this may not seem exceptionally deadly, the rate at which it effects its victims is astonishingly profound. In only a fraction of a second, it reduced Jotaro Kujo to a child, and in a few moments longer, it transformed an adult woman into an embryo.

Worse yet, the physical changes it inflicts on its opponent precipitate the mental ones. Soon after Polnareff was turned into a child, Alessi promised him that his mind was soon to degrade as well.

3 Grateful Dead

Prosciutto and Grateful Dead in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind.

Like Sethan, the Grateful Dead influences the aging of its opponent, accelerating it rather than reversing it. However, it becomes deadlier when considering its pervasive effects. It does not need to get in close to an opponent to begin withering them, able to inflict its sinister power over an entire train at once.

Though some may claim its weakness is to body heat, this is technically not true. Prosciutto only prevented it from attacking those with lower temperatures both to preserve his brother and so that he could capture the Boss's daughter without accidentally killing her.

2 Enigma

Enigma jojo stand

Enigma was the Stand of Terunosuke Miyamoto and one of the most serious foes on Kira's side. All it needs is for its opponent to demonstrate two signs of fear, albeit conveyed through their body language.

Once they have, Enigma can send them into a daze and seal their body into a piece of paper. Should the paper become ripped, the body which was inside it is presumably destroyed, with broken bones and ruptured organs spilling across the ground. Miyamoto's fascination with fear enables his Stand to reach its terrifying potential.

1 Death Thirteen

Death Thirteen from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.

Death Thirteen was able to haunt the nightmares of its targets. When inside his world, they would have no hope of resisting him, unable to activate their Stands or even sufficiently protect themselves since he could define reality.

Moreover, waking up would not provide an ample escape. Any who manages to evade the clutches of Death Thirteen's attack temporarily forgets the encounter they have experienced with him immediately after. Even damage sustained in the dream world would be forgotten, save carving a direct reminder as to what happened into one's own skin.
